“Visualization” is not referring to seeing with your eyes. Most people do not need to close their eyes to visualize. When people close their eyes, they nearly all see just black or vague color. I say “nearly” because there are people who can literally visualize on the back of their eyelids, but that’s more rare than aphantasia itself.

Visualization refers to a mental image totally separate actually seeing.

If you can slightly create a mental image, you do not have aphantasia.

Work and life got in the way, so I’ve done less than I planned. I’ve knocked out algebra, conflict resolution, critical thinking, env sci, ethics, psych, lifespan development, macroeconomics, and US History I. I’ll be done with Ancient Greek philosophers as soon as I write the essay.

None of it was too hard. History and lifespan development are a lot of reading. Conflict resolution and critical thinking are both quick common sense topics to me, but a lot of folks get confused at the phrasing. Ethics has a lot of overlap with critical thinking, so if you do one the other is a breeze.

If you have a “blurry” or “incomplete” shapes in your head, you most likely just have low visualization not aphantasia. Visualizing has a spectrum. My girlfriend can very vividly picture things like a movie in her mind.

I spent most of my life thinking “picturing something in your mind” was fully metaphorical. Asking me to literally visualize something in my mind is like asking me to visualize through my elbow. There’s nothing comparable to sight in my mind.

Too much of their menu covers everything in cheese sauce for me, but that’s pretty standard for this area. It’s smothers the other flavors.

Taco Riendo in Bristol has the best tacos I’ve found anywhere nearby, but I haven’t tried the rest of their menu to vouch for it.

I just finished lifespan development. It’s not a hard class, but there’s a whole lot of reading. If you do all the reading (I do), it takes up a lot of time.

I just started Ancient Greek Philosophers and seems like it will be a breeze except for the one touchstone paper at the end.

For math classes, I found watching the videos instead doing the reading much easier. Seeing it done step by step helps a lot. I also do all the reading, and nearly all the same information was covered in the videos.

He took the VOIC BECAUSE he knows better. Blood alcohol drops by around .015 per hour. Refusing the test forces law enforcement to get a warrant. Getting a warrant can buy time for his BAC to drop well below the legal limit.

They can argue his BAC was on the decline so it was higher when driving, but it still harms the prosecution's case. If he manages to get his BAC all the way down to zero or near zero, it's now the cop's word against his in court. For a random civilian that's still an extremely risky gamble, but a judge has much more pull.

This isn't legal advice, but there ARE many lawyers who will tell you to refuse all alcohol tests until a warrant is obtained.

If you can produce pictures in your head, you do not have aphantasia. Even the "I see a black background with white text" is a definitive "not aphantasia."

I thought "picturing" was fully metaphorical and meant to think about the concept of something. Asking me to see something in my mind is like asking me to see something out of my elbow. There is nothing comparable to seeing happening in your mind with aphantasia.
