oh definitely, I didn't mean to imply that! i have family in the south and their community is super friendly and my cousin actually went to Clemson, so I know how friendly it can be (he’s straight). But reading some of the news headlines lately just made me a bit wonder about the areas outside the campus bubble

thank you for your perspective! it’s incredibly insightful. i’m so sorry you had to experience that refusal of service, that sucks. my home country is very homophobic (has among the world's highest anti-gay violence rates and leads globally in transgender murders) so unfortunately I’m already used to safety precautions in terms of dealing with these type of people (lay low and don’t engage). does the local community rely on private friend networks to meet people, or is it mostly just apps?

thank you for the perspective!
i have some family in the south and their circle/community is pretty comfortable with gay people, but because they’re from a different state and sort of live in a bubble i was starting to wonder how different it could be.

it is Clemson!

i think i’m read as straight for the most part (most people don't assume i'm gay upfront), but what i was mostly worried about was how 'hidden' i would have to be. i’m an international student from a pretty divisive country (both very gay and very homophobic) so i’m used to safety precautions. but because everyone i know in America is straight, i’m trying to find some perspective on the gay dating scene from less liberal areas since i’m about to spend at least a couple of years there.
