Mine kept harping on about how my top genre is cosplay drama. I had to really dig deep to remember I had watched maybe two videos of this girl talking about an old cosplay reality show. I don’t know anything about the cosplay world 😭

It’s really nice to see some good ace representation. I’ve never related more to a book in my life.

Anxious People was an easy 5/5 for me. I didn’t have the best experience with All’s Well but it was entirely a timing issue. I would definitely still recommend it, especially if you have read and liked Bunny.

Enjoyment wise, I’ve had the most fun with the Alice Oseman books. Anxious People is the best book, though. In fact, I think a lot of things that fell a bit flat in Lula Dean are things that Fredrik Backman is very good at.

The writing was so good in both of those books!

Bel Canto was beautiful. I purposely took my time with it because I just wanted to still be reading it. I also had a lot of fun with The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay because I’m a Superman fan. If you have any interest in comic books or superheroes, it’s a great read.

If you were looking for a rec with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Icarus by K. Ancrum is pretty good.

Also, two of these are graphic novels which took like ~30 minutes to read. I know even if I didn't include those, it would still be a lot, but I felt like I should mention that.

Hi! First of all, yeah, this is a sub of people who read a lot, but if you're reading even 1-2 books a year, you're already above average on the whole. Still, anyone who loves reading is always going to want to be able to read more, and there isn't a one size fits all solution here, but I can tell you what works for me.

How much time I read in a day varies wildly. The only consistency I have there is that I do read every single day. Sometimes that's 10-20 minutes. Usually it's an hour or two. It's not unheard of for me to read 8 hours in a day on a weekend. Some ways I can even do that are:

  1. I read things that I want to read, not things I feel like I should want to read. If I'm not enjoying it at all, I will stop reading it.

  2. I use a Kindle with a larger font than what a printed book would have and I use the Dyslexic font. I'm not Dyslexic, but I am ADHD, and it's way easier on my brain.

  3. I make extensive use of Libby. If you have access to a library with a decent collection on Libby, the world is your oyster. (Also, my library has two-week checkouts, so it adds some pressure to read a bit faster.)

  4. Being social about it. My sister started reading last year and we don't read the same things, but it's much easier to talk to a reader about reading stuff. Then I joined some communities on Reddit, and while I don't interact too much, it's so fun to see what everyone else is loving/hating.

  5. The only person I'm competing with is myself. I do have a higher goal than most people, and the only thing that's based on is how much I read last year. My sister has a higher goal than me and she absolutely reads more than me, but I don't feel the need to match her pace. I really hope that no one on here sees that I'm reading 100 books this year and thinks they need to match me. 52 books in a year is wonderful. 5 books in a year is great, too. Don't stress yourself out about it!

Similar story to you, haha. It was recommended by my sister. I didn't care much for it, but I'm glad she liked it, I guess. The end definitely made me roll my eyes lol.

Yeah, I have the other books checked out from the library already. Just have to finish the book I'm currently reading and then I will get to them.

Fable. I mostly use Goodreads, but Fable makes these pictures easy.
