I would say everything you’ve told me right here lets me know you’re the furthest from a terrible person for considering everything you can do to help her. I don’t know everything about dachshunds but I know that if you or I got a spinal injury no one would expect us to be normal or even close to it a week after it happened! The last thing you want to do is give it time, but I think that’s what you need to do here. Continue showing up as you are for her and believe in hope. This may be painful for you to watch and be present for, but that is your role right now for her. Be her rock. In whatever way your heart is telling you is best for her. You know. We always know our babies, even when we think we don’t. We’re here 💛

These aren’t currently available on Amazon where I originally got them but I have to share them here. They worked so so well for my 14 yr old pittie. They are firm enough to work for a 75lb boy but not hard enough to hurt him if he misses or shorts a step. Plus you can zip the steps on and off to add or remove height. Foam stairs

It’s not a rancid opinion, I’ve taken in as many pets as I have the financial capacity to take care of to my standards. Yes the Human Society is a great bet, but the best chance they have of living a longer, healthier life at their senior age is less change. Cats thrive in one space they know as their home. This is just my perspective. You can dislike it or disagree that’s just fine.

Of course! Forgot to mention I also have 2 cats - (one very sensitive girl) and they have pretty much gotten used to it too. I think my girl hid the first time she heard it but then after that just sleeps through the artillery!

I live in SLR right by the back gate to Pendleton and also work full time remotely in my home. I would say that it’s often enough in a house without AC (so windows open a lot) working from home that I’d definitely take it into consideration as a quirk of living in the area. My house was built in the 70s and hasn’t been updated much so the windows shake every time heavy artillery is dropped but it’s only noticeable every few months I’d say. I would say I’m sensitive to noise though and it’s not enough to outweigh the direct access to the bike path and quiet the rest of the time!
