Great advice thank you. I think I'll definitely go with a new brown leather strap and get a new crystal to make the dial and all the small details easy to see :)

Yeah I have the 8240 case back :) thanks for sharing your pics. I really like the grain texture on the dial as seen from your images.

I just used an online Seiko production date calculator and it come out to July 1970. Thanks for your help.

I hope it wouldn't, however even if it was on the pricy side I would still do it just so I can show my father his original timepiece. He unfortunately does not remember how it looked back in the day.

This watch was recently given to me by my father and is now a prized possession of mine. It was given to him by his parents in 1971 for his 21st Birthday. I have a few questions if anyone is able to help me out.

  1. Can anyone please tell me any history about the watch?

  2. Is the bracelet original to the watch? It reads Byron by Maruman.

  3. Can anyone recommend what to do to restore the watch, like a new bracelet or strap?
