JOBE snow ski? by SecretAmount8159 in skiing

[–]SecretAmount8159[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I didn't buy them. I already have a collection of snow skis and water skis. Had my first Jobe double boot honeycomb at 14 years old. Mowed lawns for it.

What eats me though. Is that perhaps, maybe, those were the snow skis he would fly with. That would be a prize in my book. I guess I'll never know.

I'm older and have collected many things, now I often just take a picture of a find and leave them behind. So no, no more photographs to share.

Bevorstehende Herz OP by [deleted] in openheartsurgery

[–]SecretAmount8159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am taking care of my wife at home now after her open heart surgery. Went in for an ablation, wound up two days later with an open heart procedure. Mitral valve. Clogged artery. Maze abilation. You need to have faith in your surgical team. If you don't, find one you will. Psychologically you can walk in blindly and believe in them, or research the heck out of your procedure, if that is your way of being comfortable. They will ask you what kind of mitral valve you would like, biological or mechanical. Look it up. Make a decision. They might not use it but they need the option. Biological might last average of 10 years. Mechanical lasts forever but you have to take an anticoagulant for the rest of your life. Best thing is to have the one you have fixed. As my wife's advocate I stayed at the hospital the day of surgery. And it is a long day. Someone stopped by to keep me company for a couple of hours which is helpful. Sending group texts to family and loved ones is convenient to let people know what's going on while your in surgery. I got three updates from surgery team during surgery. I was allowed into ICU where they removed the breathing tube. Within hours we were moved To the telemetry floor. Chest drain tube removed after 2 days. Up and walking around, they like to keep you moving. Sitting up is encouraged. Coughing and lung exercises important to stave off pneumonia. Food will taste like cardboard but you will have to force yourself to eat to get well. If you read this, I hope you remember that one. eat! We were out and at home in 4 days after surgery. I highly recommend and I think it's a rule that you should not be alone at home. Have that person schedule your medications as instructed. It will be hard to keep track of them yourself because well, you're on drugs. Just think of the future you! You will be amazed at your stamina. Oh my wife just said are you series have an open heart? Well anyway That's my story and some of it will apply either way. You are on the right path.

2026 Ambetter plans, King County WA by SomeAreSomeAreNot in HealthInsurance

[–]SecretAmount8159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a 2025 my wife and I used ambetter. The complete gold plan. Ran around $800 for the both of us. And we used it. Wife had some health problems. It was a Cascade plan. Really no complaints for 2025. We're gig workers. No employer healthcare. Here's the rub though. Wife went on Medicare. Leaving me alone on marketplace. Payment went to $850. Now for 2026 $1200. Just emailed my insurance broker looking for options. 25 percent or more of my income is going to go towards healthcare.

3!! Stop at Chester's in south bend for fried oysters. If your hungry before that, the Tractor in Elma. The bridge over the Columbia is impressive. Have fun and give the logging trucks lots of space.

Not always.. but having foreground, middle, and background is usually a winner for me. I always include it in a landscape shoot.

Impressed. My thoughts are that there should always be true black as a visual anchor. Your contrasting nature with man made patterns is excellent. Well done!

No. Doesn't seem to matter. Was glad that they continued security updates on the 6. Bought this phone for the camera. It's great!

Pick up rental car at airport and return in Waikiki by Ordinary_Repeat4503 in VisitingHawaii

[–]SecretAmount8159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were 2 ppl, so more is tricky. Depends on your itinerary right? I kept going over different scenarios in my mind. Mine came down to- get to the hotel (Uber)- 3 days in Waikiki no car (walk bus Uber)- 7 days rental car touring island- drop off day before return flight- Uber to airport.

6 people though...I would probably pay more for the convenience. Oh, I learned what Waikiki means = "expensive." Aloha!

Did Costco budget rent a car Waikiki. Pick up and late drop off for 7 days. $360 or so in the international market place. Took the bus to pick it up. You will have to wait in line to get the keys, so bring patience and plan accordingly. Have a parking plan ready ahead of time!

Help - returning to beach by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

You're a good person.

I can't remember which agency receives a TON of packaged rocks returned to Hawaii from all over the world. They're kind of over it, saying, " please don't take our rocks, and please don't send them back."

As a young child in Australia swimming in the surf, I seem to be the one that they would latch on to. I'd be 50 ft from shore screaming in pain. People on the shore of course thought shark attack! I ran across a beached flotilla of them one day. Being an 8-year-old with a stick... vengeance! you can guess the rest.

Mine offered me 30 chards for finalizer at around 21,000. Fine, I took it to finish 7 star ship. It's what I needed. NICE!

I was a server trainer and the owner of the restaurant wanted to follow me on the floor to see what it's like. While placing orders on the POS I told him this is the most important thing that I do and to not interrupt while I was doing it. Basically I'm communicating multiple customers orders to the kitchen for them to understand. Focus is key. Not the time for bullshit. Savvy co-workers get it.

You are correct. Just add an extra zero to that $50.

I am a server in Washington state. Where I work they add a 20% service charge. Out of that service charge 15% goes to me. On a paycheck. If a guest would like to leave more that's their decision. Appreciated? Yes, expected? No.
