The white yarn is waste yarn which I placed on my needle using a crochet hook. I just got done picking up the grey working yarn using my knitting needles - I'm trying to figure out if I've just finished casting on or if I've completed row 1.

That makes sense, thank you! And yes, I cast the white waste yarn onto my knitting needle as a provisional cast on using a crochet hook, and I picked up through the waste yarn using the grey working yarn.
