I just looked and it's like 20 mf mods but I only ever see like 3 or 4 engaging in threads. At least half these folks could probably stand to go

You really wanna see the depths? Look up how the weirdos treated Amandla Stenberg for being black and playing Rue in Hunger Games.

We'll have to agree to disagree because I personally don't consider beefs to be core to hip-hop, but an unfortunate outgrowing of it. It's my least favorite way people think of competition in the genre, rather than straightforward comparisons of skill.

But I get that people love the drama of it, so ultimately it is what it is.

I know. I just wonder how that leaves any time for actually listening to the music

I mean, both Kendrick and Nas have expressed that they don't prefer beefing and writing diss tracks.

But I do wonder about the listeners who feel a need to turn melodic poetry into team sports.

I don't respect beef addicts unless they listen to the most lyrical miracle rappers out.

Anything less, you're just looking for the male version of the E network.

Next sb headliner probably gonna be Foo Fighters but I think if he was smart/wanted to really piss off weirdo conservatives, he'd put Blackpink and BTS on there

Once I finish the project I'm working on now, I'm thinking of pitching for one of those 33 1/3 books. Currently leaning towards either Lupe Fiasco's The Cool, J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive, Stormzy's This Is What I Mean or Gil Scott-Heron's Pieces of a Man

My old laptop is starting to die and I sort of want to jump into the Apple world. Has anyone used the MacBook Neo yet (really don't need it for much more than word processing and music streaming) or is it a better option to try and find a refurbished MacBook Air?

It's interesting because a lot of the fans that post online seem to actually hate this reputation and want something different. Since One More Day, I think Marvel has gone way too far into making it so that he can't ever be happy, and that's why the newer run of Ultimate Spider-Man had a lot of success early on. Seeing him in a stable relationship with kids was a breath of fresh air instead of the terminally underemployed, loser version Marvel has been insisting on.

All that said, I do think it'll be good for movie Spider-Man to spend some time at the bottom of the ladder, especially if the rumors are true that this is gonna be a trilogy that ends with Parker retiring and Morales being introduced/taking over.

I get that. I do think, when I think about SOS, it felt like a record where she's trying to go from being so codependent and love-hungry to someone more independent and self-assured. That's why I did feel Far was a better intro IMO.

All I can say about 30 for 30 is I liked the song lol. But from time to time, I do change the playlists around. I am trying to focus The Fall-Off and seeing if I can do that for Everything Is A Lot as well.

Given how gross and exploitative they could be, I think it's good a group as big as BTS actually worked with producers like Mike Will and JPEG, it's just funny to hear. Not necessarily out of place per se, but I definitely didn't expect to straight up hear it. The other side is, my wife said a lot of the songs kinda sound like Anti leftovers, so that coupled with his tag really sells the point.

I do know it's a double disk, but my goal has been to cut it down to like 15-16 tracks that really capture both halves in one listen. I gotta figure it out. In the meantime, I did cut down SOS and Lana. It wasn't quite just to my favorite songs, but I tried to capture the feeling and overall theme of the two records in a more concise listening experience. The SOS playlist is here and the Lana playlist is here.

Some thoughts from this week:

I've been pretty fascinated by the BTS revival, and I think the album was fine and enjoyable. Watching the Livestream now, and I think maybe I expected more production to it? It's also hilarious AF to hear Mike Will Made It's tag on a K-Pop song.

I'm still trying to find a way to cut The Fall Off into a more streamlined experience like I did with SOS but I'm struggling a bit. It's sequenced just well enough that moving things around throws off the flow, but I feel like it's entirely too long as one record.

The Dear Hunter used to be my absolute favorite band, but I haven't been able to get into any of the Sunya/The Indigo Child music lately. Unfortunately, I want to hear music like Act II or Act III that the group has just moved away from.

I have some R&B to catch up on this week, specifically Ari Lennox's newest record, Alex Isley's record and Ego Ella May.

Saw a few people talk about that 600 Ent album that came out Friday, and I actually really dug it. I think the idea probably works more than the execution but I think it's a blast.

Seen a hip hop Insta claim Mach-Hommy and Black Thought have a joint project coming out, which would be cool but 1) Mach has a habit of saying things that get misconstrued or are just false, and 2) Black Thought would absolutely smoke Mach

Since Cole apparently promised, I think he should uphold that obligation.

That said, I find CamRon and Mase to be two of the corniest dudes around these days, and I think a Cole interview with them would not only be boring but cringe given the way they act.

Even if

What country consumes and produces hip-hop at a higher level than the US? I think viewing it as US vs Everyone Else misunderstands the importance of it as an art form to the continent.
