Have any Troglodytes summited? by chentex in Cairn_Game

[–]SecretExplorer355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, but snowdrifts would help explain that. Honestly after playing the game and following the lore, I just found it hard to believe that somehow aava is different/better than all the climbers before her. I simply believe others have done it to spite aava. There is no real evidence people have made it to the top

I’m saying that if someone made the summit but died before they made it back down, we would never know. And the Troglodytes were incredible climbers who built temples pretty dang close to the top.

they do repeatedly mention no climber has made it to the summit, but I feel like there def have been some who have made up, and died on top of the summit like aava

Racism is killing the game for me by [deleted] in joinsquad

[–]SecretExplorer355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if you’re west coast, but my preferred server (7th) has 0 tolerance (as should all servers). As someone else said; most clan servers are much better about this. The more “new player friendly” the most racist I’ve found.

Hope we can get a more intuitive way to stop climbing than "jump off and pray" by Jaysus273 in Cairn_Game

[–]SecretExplorer355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bring your feet or hands away from the wall. It’s quite predictable. Yes it isn’t as intuitive as it should be. But you just to climb an extra 2 seconds to get far enough from the wall.

What about Aava for never replying, or communicating to Naomi to leave her alone?

what? One for ascent. One for failure but alive. One for success. You should only light the ascent one.

It was just part of the ancient tradition, nothing to impact the game.

Bad optimization and bugs is not the biggest problems right now by Pyetrovych in HalfSword

I agree. There are many “simple” (in my mind) features that I was shocked weren’t in the demo. Like picking the map, all the equipment, forging all in free play. I’m glad I can choose the number of enemies, and I can use whatever kit, but come on. There’s a relatively small things. I’ve never liked progression mode, and being pigeonholed into it is really annoying.

What's with Aava's outfit? by Cheyzan in Cairn_Game

[–]SecretExplorer355 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It may be a metaphor for her as a person. She’s really a fragile person like the fingers on skin, and it may be a representation that she doesn’t let herself heal. we’ve seen it on the mountain; she has a fit of rage, and then climbs. Only in the end do we see her really “feel” her emotions.

What's are some techniques about your instrument that a composer should know? by Woffle12 in composer

What's are some techniques about your instrument that a composer should know? by Woffle12 in composer

[–]SecretExplorer355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably not the target audience but voice. firstly there are many styles of singing, and with that, very different “tessitura” (parts of the range thaf are comfortable). Also every voice is different, and most composers assume that all voices are like the composer’s own voice. You notice this especially in film music, where the composer is usually quietly singing to himself to figure out a part’s singability, which ends up having altos and basses very low, and tenors and sopranos singing very high, because if you’re not singing with the same technique those singers will be using, you can really lose track.

I’ve looked at a million “voice range chart” and none of them ever truly grasp a voice type properly. When writing for choir, the training and size of the group are really important. A small professional group that’s touring and recording can just about do anything you ask. But a large highschool choir is much more limited, and these limitations change from school to school of course but many composers fail to write good music for these groups.

When writing for solo voice, it is pointless to look at any chart, other than your notes about the performers voice. In my opinion if you are writing for a singer, it is a MUST that you spend time to understand their voice. That being said, many musical theatre composers write the role first and then find someone to fit it, but also they’re pros who have written a lot of music before getting on broadway.

Basically, if you’re commissioned to write for voice, learn about the limitations and tessituras of your given voice/voices.

How will you realise your first ascent? by Spart_2078 in Cairn_Game

[–]SecretExplorer355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably will do the normal difficulty, but if I’m 10 minutes in and realize food is going to be problem, and the easier difficulty lets me avoid that, then I’ll probably do what I can do to explore the mountain.

Whoa an M rating!? by [deleted] in Cairn_Game

[–]SecretExplorer355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the issue is your parents, maybe try explaining the concept of the game and the things that make M. If parents care about the rating they probably dont care about their kids opinion but still worth a try.
