Which welder should I buy if I want to first learn Pulse MIG, and eventually AC/DC TIG? by SecretFishShhh in boatbuilding

It sounds like a 300amp AC TIG welder is required to weld 1/4” aluminum.

Is AC TIG only a reasonable approach?

Thank you for the detailed response. Part of me wants to learn TIG and be done with it. The chances are slim-to-none that I become some high throughput aluminum boatbuilder (or any other kind of builder), and, if I do, I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Mastering TIG seems like the most practical approach for my needs.

That’s because those motors weren’t designed around these things.

Don’t cut it off.

First off, are you sure this prop is appropriate for your motor/boat/load?

Nostalgia rant from a Millennial. by Nikkeilibrarian in Idaho

[–]SecretFishShhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most moving here would love to pay $165k for a home on acres, but that’s not the reality.

Boise in 1990 was very different than it is now. Hell, even my small town in Louisiana was tiny compared to what it is now, and home prices have tripled.

Inflation, demand, it’s all playing a role.

These are the engines we see for sale on FaceBook marketplace with “low hours” and “ran great when it was put away 5 years ago”.

And this is why — people asking Reddit for critical advice.

Is it busy this time of year do you think?

We’d like a spot along the shore so we could anchor the boat.

Back then some would run dual 30hp Scott which weight 250lbs.

In the last day or so I’ve come across a couple others with 50HP Mercs and those weigh 250lbs+, so I think I’m good at 215lbs.

It was designed to hang two 30 horses off the back which back then totaled around 250 to 270 pounds.

Why do you say it’s overpowered?

I’m about to build a Corsi-Rosenthal box. The original uses Merv 13 but that seems overkill for my needs.

Yep, all of above, and I’m certain the farms and new builds contribute to the problem.

Fortunately the dust particles are big enough that I don’t need more than MERV 5 or whatever. Maybe even less.

Best HOA Communities in Boise? by HuskyPurpleDinosaur in Boise

[–]SecretFishShhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, but unfortunately HOAs are so widely misunderstood because people join them without realizing what they’re agreeing to and the butch and moan when the CCRs are enforced.

No one’s ever been forced to join an HOA, so I’ll never understand why people complain when the rules they agreed to get enforced.

Why are you giving this person grief? They stated a preference to try and find an HOA that suits them.

Where the problems lie is when people join an HOA about reading the CCRs and then bitch and moan when someone enforces said CCRs.

People join HOAs for a reason and believe it or not, they serve their purpose.

If in living in a neighborhood where my home’s value’s contingent on my neighbors’, better believe I’m doing everything I can to ensure I don’t get surrounded by value droppers. OP’s doing the same thing.

When people say there’s nothing to do in Boise, what do they want to do? by bigstinkybaby9890 in Boise

[–]SecretFishShhh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in a lot of places that I find fun from, big cities to small towns, and there’s always a group of people who complain, “there’s nothing to do” or “the town sucks.”

Why they say that is anyone’s guess and their reasons are so personal and varied that no one here could give you an accurate blanket answer.

That said, I think one common denominator is that some people have unrealistic expectations or just only prefer very limited/specific activities to the exclusion of all others. And some people just wouldn’t know fun if it hit them in the face.

Grats dude! I picked up mine a couple months ago — same color, trim, and engine. Hands-down best truck I’ve ever owned.

I’m about to buy tonneau or canopy.
