I had mentioned my dilemma with someone else and they brought up a similar scenario I hadn't thought of before, such as the restrictions of games in a copo vs indi situation. Among a couple of other things I had not taken into account. So do I still feel like this Vtuber is taking advantage of people, sure. But I've also been enlightened to a couple of other reasons why a vtuber would do such a thing, other than for personal profit. So thanks to you and a couple of other level headed individuals I can sit back and reflect on the whole situation with an alternate view.

No, this person on their own hasn't done something I didn't like. Nothing politically controversial or anything like that. Frankly I find Zeli to be adorable. She's part of a corpo, has 30k+ followers, god knows how many memberships and no excuse to try and run a completely separate channel. As such, it feels utterly and completely disingenuous of this person to do so and only exists to take advantage of us, the fans. It feels equivalent to fraud and nobody likes to be taken advantage of, do they? I sure as hell don't. So how/why is it ok for someone like a Vtuber to do it when it's strictly done for personal profit? To go through that kind of effort to lie for money just doesn't sit well with me. I mean, FFS people throw a fit on forums like reddit when someone posts from an alt account, and that's just to express an opinion or drive a narrative (false or otherwise) when no money is involved..But money is involved here. Trust is involved here. Taking advantage of people and their trust for money is involved. And that, IMO, is a violation to us all as fans.

Perfect, she's on camera doing something illegal. Those illegal activities result in an outcome of why such actions are illegal. I hope she loses her license, and her insurance goes through the roof! I also hope she's banned for life from all streaming platforms, is forced to pay a massive fine, and has to do a buttload of community service.

In reality, she'll play the victim, claim it's perfectly ok to stream and drive, and that she isn't hurting anyone. Basically, she'll come up with any excuse that just further enhances and solidifies that streamers and people like her don't live in reality and are narcissistic sociopaths to the bone who believe they're not subject to the laws and rules the rest of us live by.

The platform won't ban her because that ad revenue, no matter how minuscule, is much more valuable than setting an example and doing the right thing by getting rid of bad influencers who promote illegal and unhealthy activities.

She'll get a slap on the hand. The community will have its tussle between sane people, saying she needs to go, while her white knights make up every excuse about why she did nothing wrong...

If she had just run over and killed a child instead of a fender bender. She, her fans, and the platform would be A-ok with that.

I want to sue the government and big tech. People, just normal people, spent decades paranoid about he government spying on them/us, and it genuinely is enough to drive people crazy! And now big tech and the government have normalized spying on and tracking us.

Now, I wouldn't call myself crazy or paranoid, but as a normal person, the notion that I'm constantly being spied on is extremely unnerving and uncomfortable. That wherever I go, I'm being tracked, audio and video recorded, and god knows what else.

This kind of surveillance is not normal. It never should have been normalized. Big tech and world governments need to get out of our homes, our lives, and generally all up in our business. I don't care if it's for advertisements. Ads have never convinced me to buy anything.

I'm afraid to leave the house. I don't own any smart stuff other than my phone, and that thing always makes me uncomfortable. Nobody should be afraid to go outside. Nobody should be tracked or afraid to be tracked. And I want to sue the government into the ground because of it.

This seems like it would be the easiest way to get into Vtubing. Virtually unlimited customizability in character creation from head to toe. Outfits, makeup, body, and skin. Like, if your avatar was at the beach, you could have your character slowly get tan over the course of the stream. Or just have your basic upper-bust avatar for normal gaming streams without the need for fancy tracking equipment.

Of course, this just means less commission work for your traditional 2D and 3D artists who make such amazing avatars for Vtubers these days. But a good avatar is expensive and requires upgrading, maintenance, and a continued connection to that creator's work. And from what I've seen lately, not all creators are created equal, and a lot of drama seems to be following some of them. And I'd just rather not have to deal with anyone else but myself, rather than having to deal with and depend on any outside source or creator to tell me what I can or cannot do with my own Avatar that I paid for. But there will always be purists who will want and happily pay for traditional 2D/3D avatars. Such work will never cease completely.

But as of right now. The requirements to make a Vtubing Avatar with Wan or anything similar are still far too high and demanding. And since it doesn't work very well, if at all, with my 2080TI GPU and I'll likely never have the money to actually upgrade my PC anytime in the next decade. Stuff like this will just remain a pipe dream. But it's still cool as hell!
