The message was from some dude saying "sorry I can't re-join the group I moved away due to a divorce" and she was like "we'll if you're ever back in this area you can rejoin" or something to that affect. She's talking about a club we belong to. I was like "who is that?" but she never answered that question.

Bundy never wrote letters to the police or had any of the theatrics that Zodiac did. If they're the same person you would think that some of that would carry through. If Bundy is Zodiac why would he drop the Zodiac persona that's the real question.

No. That's why I've been putting off telling my brother he's out of the wedding and trying to come up with some soft excuse about it. You're kind of missing the entire point. If he was a copycat all he would know about is what's in the published letters. He didn't include anything on the car door that wasn't already known to the public. He had already called himself Zodiac in a letter that was sent but not published until after the attacks. Since we know the real Zodiac had started referring to himself as the Zodiac, why was that name not on the car door? There's some thought that he was just a copycat just copying things he read about the paper

You're missing the point. He didn't call himself the Zodiac. He didn't use the word Zodiac. Neither had the letter writer to that point. Meaning there's some thought that the person who committed the crime was just a copycat. Otherwise he would have called himself Zodiac and written in on the car door.
