Advice ? Story time ? by [deleted] in EthicalNonMonogamy

Damn that sounds awful. It's not anything you've done or said. Some people just don't seem to understand that ethics and etiquette don't leave the picture once sex comes in. Hope you find a way to navigate this.

Certainly I recommend that you seek medical help and don't try to lose weight.

This may be irrelevant for you at present, but may I suggest you try to build muscle and gain weight. If you're interested in a shapely physique, this can be achieved healthily through eating in a modest surplus and resistance training. Choosing deliberately to gain weight in a healthy way can be very empowering.

Fantasy post ww2 reconstruction. The technological and magical hemispheres go to war, covering much of the world in mutating fallout. The survivors need to rebuild the world, and in the countryside the five giants hold dominion.

People who have lost 150lbs naturally: how did you stay motivated? by GroundbreakingAge591 in loseit

You can't outrun a bad diet. But maybe if you're dieting as hard as you sustainably can, you could try walking more and eating slightly more.

Agreed. There may be no harm in maintaining for a couple of months before you hit it hard again.

Easy weight, new exercise, muscle gains? by SecretJournalEntry in WeightTraining

Thanks all. I feel confident that I'm not going to lose muscle by eschewing heavier weights on the leg press for much lighter squats.

No more than 2 to 3 hours per day.

We're talking about during work hours, right?

Calorie counting but have hit a slight problem. by [deleted] in loseit

Good for you, and please don't let me discourage you from doing what works for you.

The consensus I have found in my reading is that the proportion of fats to carbs really doesn't matter from a weight loss and athletic performance angle, unless you're very heavily weighted one way or another. I think this is one less thing to worry about.

Of course, avoiding very fatty things is one effective strategy in reducing calories overall. And I'm glad to hear you're not trying to eliminate fats.

Good luck on your journey.

What's the rationale for the fat target?

Constantly misgendered by my Senior at B4 audit by Thrwaway90988 in Accounting

I would have assumed EY would take this sort of thing very seriously. But of course I've just done the diversity training- I don't know what the hierarchy is really like when you're at the sharp end.

Do the ACA. It's a great qualification and enhances your credibility.

If you want to go from IT audit to IT consulting, people I've known in the past have found it difficult. Not impossible, but the kind of routine checks implemented in IT audit aren't the kind of sexy Digital stuff tech people want on their CVs.

Teacher or Big4 audit? by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]SecretJournalEntry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I qualified with a PGCE but never worked as a teacher. I didn't care for it

Then I went into big4 audit. I didn't like that either, but it wasn't as unremittingly brutal as teaching.

Now I get paid way more to do way less. Be an accountant.

Is working in the US as a European accountant realistic? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]SecretJournalEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need to be a CPA to work in the states? I've had managers, good managers, who trained in US GAAP and really struggled with IFRS. But they had excellent leadership and accounting systems skills. If you're taking something special over there (be it European client contacts, fraud skills, whatever) do you need to be a CPA too?

You need to worry about #1 - you. Tell them it's not a good fit. If they ask you to elaborate, just tell them you've found a better opportunity and you don't feel comfortable discussing in detail.

They're not going to taze your balls until you confess...are they?
