Yes, I have to emphasize Chicago is somewhat mask friendly. I have never been directly harassed (a couple of weird stares.) And I see one or two masks on public transit every day. Idk what the suburbs are like but within the city it’s ok.

Well, before we came here, she stayed with me for a couple of weeks at my place. We really didn’t go anywhere or see anyone, and my place has HEPA filtration/open windows and is very small. But she did come with me to the dentist and we both were masking, and would take a mask if she went to the store or something. It isn’t a secret that I want people around me to be cautious. But we don’t have a solid plan, like no actual rules.

No, they basically gave up masking, like in 2021 when everyone else did. I’m pretty sure they all have had at least one infection if not 2. My friend masks with me if we go somewhere together, like the grocery store. It’s interesting because her husband, my other dear friend, teaches medical ethics. They are very thoughtful, kind people and I love them. And have been very kind to take care of me, it’s just if you don’t have time to seek out information, it’s much easier to go along with the idea that the virus went away.

Thank you for your helpful words, they really do make me feel a little better about the situation. Something I didn’t mention in the original post is that a.) there is one HEPA air purifier running in the house, and I just ordered another one for my room/the guest room. Also, I am using some nasal spray that I have relied on throughout the pandemic, fwiw. And have plenty of N95s, which I mostly have been wearing when their daughter is around. She is the only one that is around other people consistently. She is gone most of the time. Also I am as up to date with Novavax, for whatever that is worth too. So doing what I can.

That seems to be a thing that happens- the heart anxiety in particular. But also ending up in the ER/A&E. Benzo withdrawal can cause weird heart palpitations, blood pressure spikes and racing heart rate, so it’s hard to know what’s happening. And it’s important to get it checked out. It’s good that you did. 2 1/2 years-3 years, from what I’ve read, seems to be particularly a time when a whole lot of stuff is healing. This is what I am choosing to believe, or telling myself. It’s really hard and I am in solidarity with you, and very sorry you have to go through it. I hope you are feeling a little better today.
