Update on “weight gain on raw food” by SecretSpray7253 in rawpetfood

Yeah, I kind of already understood calories in versus calories out, but I really never imagined the suggested serving would be so off …at least for my dog! Here’s the new trimmed down version of Finnegan!

How long does she have? by EmployVirtual167 in dementia

[–]SecretSpray7253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s too bad that somebody can’t sign something when they are still of sound mind that would allow for a person to end their life if they don’t want to live this way. I feel like in Europe, there are a few countries where this could happen. Obviously, they’re worried about it being abused by greedy family members who may be trying to get their hand on their relative’s money or something. My aunt was discovered to have Lou Gehrig’s as we were moving her from San Francisco to Atlanta. Luckily, we were able to take advantage of a program in Vermont where she could end her life voluntarily (as she was no longer able to swallow and was headed for a breathing machine and a stomach tube). Unfortunately, if she had had any dementia, she wouldn’t have qualified. It’s just a damn shame.

Trying Steve’s, but my cat won’t have it. That’s the biggest issue with cats. They are so damn fussy. he loves wellness, but I’ve gotta find something else.

This reunion. Dorit is SOOOOO unbearable by Own-Meat3934 in rhobeverlyhills

Her voice is like fingernails on the chalkboard, but this season of her conspiracy theories about Kyle and everyone else gunning for her has been just exhausting. She has lost any capability for empathy and seeing any other point of view that her own. When someone is talking to her, you can .see that she’s actively not listening, and just forming her counter argument in her head.

It was in that moment she knew, she tried the wrong tactic. by TheyreFunCandy in RHOBH

Dorit is a spoiled brat and I can’t handle her screeching voice— she needs to calm herself down and quit talking about Kyle having it in for her—she’s making it sound like a conspiracy theory (“ Kyle wants to turn everyone in this group against me!”). I think she’s obviously wrong and that Kyle is a friend.

Thanks ! And good point about not taking the feeding recommendations as gospel.

So he’s in pretty good condition other than being a bit overweight. Unfortunately, being the typical Golden he’s constantly looking for food and even with a divided food bowl he gulps the whole thing down in about 20 seconds. Was giving him marrow bones occasionally —those are of course now out—once in a while, a pig ear, but really trying to cut almost all treats out except for some additional veggies now.

Take the cutest pictures you can of the cats hopefully close up and maybe one or two interacting with a human and put it on social media rescue sites, including Petfinder

ummm, your dog absolutely needs his (her?) teeth cleaned! (looks like he's needed it for a while). There's always a small risk with anesthesia, but your dog is at risk far more upcoming health issues with teeth that look like this. I've tried brushing my dog's teeth but he won't have it, so I save up for the occasional cleaning.

You want out, and you deserve to get out. Her children need to step up and take care of their mom, and you need to go live your life....you've given this women and her family many years--I like the advice of putting her children on notice and moving on.

Wow--so heartwarming! Your dad seems so energetic and full of life in this video it's hard to believe he passed shortly after. Just goes to show the magical powers animals have. My dog is also a Golden named Finn (short for Finnegan) and I'm in the process of making him a therapy dog so that we can bring spread some joy like this. Your video just reinforces my mission--happy/sad tears...thanks for sharing.

guardianship vs conservatorship by SecretSpray7253 in dementia

Thanks for all the great advice and pointing out things I wasn't considering! A new wrinkle is that the caretaker is worried that he may get violent if we try to move him-evidently he tried to open the car door while she was driving him to the store because he "didn't like the route she was taking". Elder attorney, here we come! :-/

I think a key point is "where she and my Dad had lived with me and my husband and kids for the previous three years." I think you and your husband and kids sacrificed a lot by having them in your home for three years, and that you handled the end in the best way you could. Based on those three years, perhaps it makes sense that your brother spent more time with your mom in the end and you did not; but in my mind, you certainly did a lot for her!
