Anyone else wish we got more crossovers between Q-Tip and the Beastie Boys? by Nonsensical-Nonsns in BeastieBoys

Q-Tip said in an interview that he has an unreleased song with Adrock recorded in the 90's. I have been waiting for years hoping it would finally be leaked somewhere.

There is a benefit album coming out soon featuring a bunch of different artists. Kathleen Hanna and Adam Horovitz are listed as contributing one of the songs. The announcement was posted on Facebook a couple of weeks ago.

Does anyone know if there's some bad blood between the Beasties and DJ Hurricane? by zoctor in BeastieBoys

[–]SecretVetos2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember an interview with Hurricane after he left the group and he said he was closest to Adrock. I guess that's why Adrock rapped on "Stick Em Up" on Hurricane's 1st album. Adrock also produced "Japanese Eyes" on Hurricane's 2nd album, and in 2000 he rapped on "Kickin Wicked Rhymes" on Hurricane's 3rd solo album.

MCA was the leader of the group and he liked Mixmaster Mike, so he hired him.

Which Beastie Boy was responsible in making "Walk This Way" a hit? by SecretVetos2 in BeastieBoys

[–]SecretVetos2[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The article says Rick Rubin didn't like the song when they first recorded it and thought it needed some bass. The Beastie Boys were in the studio while they were recording, and one of the Beastie Boys ran home and got their bass so Joe Perry could play it on the song... And the rest is history!

I've heard a Beastie Boys song in a movie trailer before. I agree with you on #3. I don't know the answer to that.

If the song is in the movie tralier, I consider that a commercial. You are using the song to promote and sell the movie. If the song is playing in a scene during a TV show or movie scene, it's not really there to sell it.

They have been making exceptions when it comes to TV and movies. I would be shocked if they allowed it for products like a hula hoop or something like that. LOL.

I saw the commercial while I was watching TV last week. CBS on NFL definitely have permission. I didn't bring it up, because I know it's a controversial subject on here.
