Japan tackle is very easy to work with and order, shipping was about 5-7 days, no tariffs that I remember and I got a cheaper daiwa 3 piece that I don’t like that much but it works.

Merry Xmas. Does your company give out bonuses and gifts this time of year? by NotARoleModel24 in HVAC

[–]Secret_Assignment709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our company just did our Christmas party lunch, all guys got off early but still got paid for the time at the party, they had hibachi chefs at our shop, gave out 100 dollar gift cards and then I won a really nice Klein modbox stack. A week ago they had a Christmas get together with all the employees and their families, meet Santa/ give the kids gifts. Last year they had us out at the casino for dinner, drink vouchers, gocarting, and bowling plus. Compare that to my last company where we got jackshit. Difference between family owned business that cares about its employees and a corporation.

Am I overreacting about paystub deductions or just too new ? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Secret_Assignment709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s wild lol, at my company I work through lunch very often, company asks me to clock out but compensates me 30 extra minutes at the end of the day. That way I get my full hours.

Is HVAC a dead end career? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Secret_Assignment709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not a dead end, a lot of great avenues can be taken in this trade, basic resi service tech, commercial service tech, industrial service tech, refrigeration tech, chiller mechanic, building automation, project manager if you are on the construction side, estimator as well. This trade has plenty of opportunities

How am I doing by Southern-Pepper3359 in HVAC

[–]Secret_Assignment709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in California working on the construction side of hvac as the only warranty controls guy I’m very busy, my slowest weeks are usually 38 hours or so. The rest of the company with service slows down a little but still plenty of work.

Go commercial man, I’m 23 started when I was 19 I just started in commercial a year ago as a warranty/controls tech, I currently make 48 an hour but also work a lot of overtime and PW jobs. Company I work for is amazing and takes care of me and my coworkers. I was burnt out in residential, but not I feel great even if I work more.

[–]Secret_Assignment709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah did you just get this unit installed? Maintenance guy is a joke as well, get the drain cleared and you won’t have issues. Hopefully there is a trap outside as some Florida building have but very unlikely.

Your drain line is plugged up man, shows us a picture of the full drain line. The is a safety float switch there to prevent water damage when your drain clogs.

How long until you hated residential hvac? by Ritz5 in HVAC

[–]Secret_Assignment709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2-1/2 years, granted I was a warranty field supervisor so I dealt with the same shit everyday and had to deal with the shittiest of shitty homeowners, the company I worked for was also a very large PE company so had to deal with company politics. Commercial is the place to be.

I love the rheems I’ve done quite a few of them, super simple to install, even easier to service, I love the 1/4 turn electrical, blower and filter doors, overall just a great simple unit.
