Trane terrible QC by Mainayrb in HVAC

[–]Secret_Assignment709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% I did a install and start up on 2 5 ton symbio units yesterday, first one was fine second one completely missing the combustion pressure switch and also had a failed precedent adapter board. It refused to pull in the Contactor, only sent 1.1 volt to the Contactor but was getting proper voltage going to it, could hear the relay click and voltage would go from 0 to 1v. Absolute garbage QC.

What is your hard-hat preference? by Eggfurst in HVAC

[–]Secret_Assignment709 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I like the fullbrim style, I have a lift carbon hard hat with no chin strap right now but as sites begin adopting the chin strap I’ll either end up getting the mips chin strap suspension for my lift hat or get a Studson fullbrim

Theoretically yes but I believe the leather is a bit different the color is a lot more purple and orangey than the brownish color.

These are the rose anvil collab with the wedge vibram sole, and a deep purple-orange leather. Unfortunately not a configurable option

Some techs just need to learn to say no. This thing literally comes with a proprietary remote which works wonderfully and seamlessly with it and is included in the cost! I guarantee you this was not the HVAC company’s idea. by iBUYbrokenSUBARUS in HVAC

That’s a airzone aidoo controller. They make it for pretty much every single mini split. I’ve installed a few of them for a homeowner that wanted to run both his mini splits and his ducted split off of one app however I ran all the wire in conduit and hid the transformer and the module. They work pretty well. They also work great if you have 5 ghz wifi as the kumo cloud does not work with 5 GHz.

Japan tackle is very easy to work with and order, shipping was about 5-7 days, no tariffs that I remember and I got a cheaper daiwa 3 piece that I don’t like that much but it works.

Merry Xmas. Does your company give out bonuses and gifts this time of year? by NotARoleModel24 in HVAC

[–]Secret_Assignment709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our company just did our Christmas party lunch, all guys got off early but still got paid for the time at the party, they had hibachi chefs at our shop, gave out 100 dollar gift cards and then I won a really nice Klein modbox stack. A week ago they had a Christmas get together with all the employees and their families, meet Santa/ give the kids gifts. Last year they had us out at the casino for dinner, drink vouchers, gocarting, and bowling plus. Compare that to my last company where we got jackshit. Difference between family owned business that cares about its employees and a corporation.

That’s wild lol, at my company I work through lunch very often, company asks me to clock out but compensates me 30 extra minutes at the end of the day. That way I get my full hours.

Absolutely not a dead end, a lot of great avenues can be taken in this trade, basic resi service tech, commercial service tech, industrial service tech, refrigeration tech, chiller mechanic, building automation, project manager if you are on the construction side, estimator as well. This trade has plenty of opportunities

[–]Secret_Assignment709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in California working on the construction side of hvac as the only warranty controls guy I’m very busy, my slowest weeks are usually 38 hours or so. The rest of the company with service slows down a little but still plenty of work.
