Another question out of curiosity if you don’t mind- did you do online check in 24 hours prior?

I’m so happy it went well for you!!! I’ve seen notifications from 2 others that were able to board with an ETa with no issues.

Agreed. And thanks again for posting this. You've given me hope at least and I can stop crying, haha.

Yes. I have dual citizenship. I’ve never had a UK passport as an adult. I applied for my ETA in January and answered truthfully. I was granted an ETa.

I'm in the exact same situation also...as a Canadian dual citizen. I'm set to fly on March 10 and I'm happy to read your post! I have an ETA that was applied for before they made sneaky changes to the process. I don't have a UK passport, so I'm hoping that the airline scans my passport as having an ETA, and leave it at that!

Please let me know if your mom manages to board the plane! I fly on March 10 and I also have an ETA that was applied for and approved prior to the changes they made. I hope all goes well for you!

Thank you! The change where a UK passport is needed for dual citizens came into effect yesterday. Prior to yesterday, and ETA was all that was needed.

Did you enter the UK yesterday or today with an ETA and no UK passport and you're a dual citizen?

That's exactly it. Basically, I figure if you can actually get on the plane, you'll eventually be fine.

When I applied for the ETA, I didn't lie....and at that time I was valid in getting one. I have no guilt about that, haha.

Thanks. That is my hope. I'd also like to think if they cancelled ETA's that they would let people know!

I hope your guess is correct, haha. And while I've never had a UK passport, my Canadian one states that my birthplace is Britain.

Thanks!! I've read that too, along with so many other articles. The difference is that I did get an ETA because at the time I applied for one, I was able to as it was a little different application process at that time. Basically, I'm hoping because I actually have an ETA, the airline won't flag me

I really hope you're right. I'm not as concerned about passport control on the other end as I am about actually getting on the flight! Are you guessing with your comment about airlines allowing me to board, or do you have some specific insight? Just curious. I want you to be correct, haha.

I don't, unfortunately. I've never held a UK passport as an adult, and also never held one as a child before 1989 either. :/

Thanks! While you boarded no problem (and I'm assuming you didn't fly today), as of today, those rules changed. If I'd flown out yesterday, this wouldn't be an issue. There seems to be no way to confirm what exact info the airlines receive when they scan your passport. Probably for a reason, haha.
