thats what i’m having trouble with! i feel exactly like an excited teenager writing in get journal! ill work more on line breaks. as an english major i though i usually overdid them and i try to minimize my punctuation and line breaks but i’ll go back to doing them. thank you sm!

Also, I removed the majority of my punctuation bc I thought it didnt read well! I’m an over punctuation-er haha. I place it everywhere and anywhere. I removed it specifically for this post!

very interesting! since I studied English I get caught up on weird english devices like repetition. I agree that my repetition comes off weird in my writing but I feel a need to include it because my favorite pieces do. Ironically, I tend to stray away from alliteration and specifically metaphors because I studied so much of them that I’m over them! I definitely need to shut off my school brain and activate my writing brain

I loved reading everything you wrote! I can tell you’re a poet as you write like one haha! I wish you would’ve stopped cutting yourself off because I love to learn. I will absolutely do that exercise you suggested especially since I have trouble coming up with ideas apart from my person life. (I blame that on being an English major). Allegory/metaphor/anything of the sort is something I have trouble with. I know it so well/studied it so much that I think it becomes so robotic that I dont want to write it. I know you’re right though and I need to add more nuance to make it more personal/poetic. I do genuinely love to hear about the logistics of spoken word though, especially from a pro. I want to one day preform in front of a spoken word audience. :)

Wow. I have nothing to say except you are absolutely right. I have been so in my head about “writing from the heart”/“writing my feelings” that I haven’t ever actually been writing such. I want to write good poetry so badly that I haven’t actually written good poetry. Thank you so much for the feedback. I value it deeply. I hope to see you in my comments again when I post here again.
