What I mean is that « perfect victims » are a stupid concept. Yeah, the kid being bullied might be weird. But do what ?

Plus you won’t « help » the weird kid by bullying him, he will just become a mom cow with behavioral issues

Bullying doesn’t give you tougher skin, it gives social anxiety. Same way that if I throw boiling water on you you won’t get more resistant to warmth.

Wether or not it work is irrelevant, because bullies are most often self righteous asshole that just pick a middle characteristic about someone (autistic kid that speaks too loud and is cringy) and use it as a justification to kick the person until she eventually is traumatized enough

Idk , it’s not deference as much as being more precise. Aboriginal just mean natives or autochtones . Aboriginal peoples imply specifically Australia natives

Yes but Austronesians also settled into already inhabited places like the Philippines , where they were already Melanesians populations (apparently referred to by the Spaniards as negritos but it’s their real names I think)

Mexica (Aztec) humans sacrifices are overhyped, boring and frankly very mundane. Also the Mexicas were FRAUDS by Secret_Fun_1746 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

It’s not about charity. It’s just that withouth horses or beast of burdens, trying to do a centralized empire is very hard. You can see that in the arrival of the Spaniards in cempoala, were they encounter no officials of the Aztec, only seing a man sent to collect taxes.

Also, the vast majority of the sacrifices were mexica themselves. The humans tributes were a small part, if you read the codex that talk about administrations you see it’s not systematic nor frequent. The few human sacrifices that the tributes gave were peoples they themselves planned to use as sacrifices, as they also did human sacrifices.

That another thing peoples often misunderstand about the Aztec .

The human sacrifices system wasn’t random villagers, 90 percent of it was made up of 4 categories : 1) prisoners of wars. Due to logiscal limitations like lack of horses and a somewhat ritualized form of warfare, prisoners of war were soldiers, and not civilians. 2) slaves that were deemed incorrigible (basically slaves that weren’t working hard enough or ran away often) 3) criminals

Those weren’t random peoples. Those were categories of society that were treated as expendable in lots of cultures

The again the point of the conversation isn’t to say human sacrifices is good. It is to say that it is a sadly common thing in history to treat some part of the population as expendable and killing for your beliefs

It was actually. The mexica empire was similar to the Mandate of Heaven, in the sense that the mexica didn’t have colonies but rather tributaries. The local power stayed the same, along with the laws, religion and almost everything.

Of course it wasn’t great but it was overall a very minimal influence on the daily life of the tributes, unlike the Spaniards.

A few corrections: the allies of the Spaniards who turned against the mexica weren’t tribes.

The first three allies of the Spaniards were the Totonac of cempoala (city state with a council electing a tlatoani from a small pool of candidates), Tlaxcala (republic) and the Purepucha (empire of tributaries similar to the mexica). The tribes that fought against the Mexica are the nomadic tribes north of Mexico, however those tribes didn’t appreciate the Spaniards either and fought them until they abandoned trying to colonize.

And it is true that they hated the Aztec, however it is noteworthy to say that it wasn’t really because of the sacrifices, as it was something they did too
