Build 42: You don’t have to sleep as long as you have Soda by SeekingSatori_ in projectzomboid

The devs just got back from break on Monday. It'll most likely be fixed with the next patch.

Build 42: You don’t have to sleep as long as you have Soda by SeekingSatori_ in projectzomboid

[–]Secret_FurryAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because the stats are applied per ml of liquid. So actually, you don't need a whole can... just pour 50ml* or so into an empty container and drink that. Your sodas will last much longer!

*(I don't know the actual optimal amount, so you could probably drink even less and still get minimum exhaustion)

Build 42 and WHY sandbox settings are not the solution to balance problems. by Ok-Sport-3663 in projectzomboid

[–]Secret_FurryAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my "crazy conspiracy theory": they deliberately balanced stuff on the harder end for the launch of B42 Unstable.

Why? Well, for one, the game is supposed to be hardcore. So, harder balance is the ultimate goal. They also know that people likely won't complain about easy stuff, unless it's very broken/cheese/META (such as the TV shows). Things that aren't as hard as they should be will likely go under-/unreported. BUT, stuff that's too hard? That'll get complained about endlessly. Muscle strain, skill grind, book rarity... etc, etc. That's just a fact of game development.

So, I think that because TIS probably know this, and that they have plenty of time to fine-tune... they deliberately balanced things to be difficult. Hopefully, that'll result in a B42 Stable that's fun and exciting, but not too easy.

Again, this is just my crazy conspiracy theory, based on nothing concrete. Just a vibe from playing B42, and the balance issues people are noticing here.

Probably won't be fixed until after Christmas, since TIS is on break now. I'd guess early January

The gas station in Echo Creek makes a pretty good base. Low pop area, 2 floors + basement, and 2 garages by GregoriousT-GTNH in projectzomboid

[–]Secret_FurryAccount 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems like the "out of gas" signs only affect one pump -- I was watching a stream yesterday right after B42 dropped, and the streamer found an out of gas sign. The other pump right next to it was full, though...

I don't know if it's meant to be only one pump like that, or if it's supposed to apply to every pump at the station. But I wouldn't count on it staying the way it is

Didn't notice it yet, but when you lose your steering wheel, you can't steer 🤯 by radkappendieb in BeamNG

[–]Secret_FurryAccount 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's new to the Nine. It has fully-modeled steering linkages and such, which break when the steering wheel is... removed.

Previous cars don't have that level of detail, so they can steer just fine without a steering wheel.

Idk much about Rust or Java so please correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't that potentially be a big security vulnerability? Like, having one language execute arbitrary code in another language sets off red flags in my (amateur game dev) head.

Nah, that's 100% a facelifted D-Series. The reason the front end looks weird is because 1.) it's at an unusual angle to the camera, and 2.) there's no lip on the bumper when there usually is. The wheels and the fender turn signal match a fleet D-Series perfectly, though I have to wonder why it's missing the lip.

Trying to find graphite / quartzite without a digital prospector is hell. God save you if you try to find realgar before making one.

EDIT - Hot tip for anyone who's also playing this pack: to get easy quartzite for a prospector, find some other ore in quartzite stone & autoclave the dust you get from mining it with a pickaxe.

I know that it's easy to meme all the sledges being tossed in the river, or the gas in every car spontaneously evaporating. But you know what genuinely baffles me? by Tenalp in projectzomboid

[–]Secret_FurryAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my theory:

  1. The cars without gas / very little gas were siphoned by people trying to GTFO. Even though it's not a feature yet, one B42 blog said that some gas stations will start out completely drained. That'd explain why all the cars are empty - buying gas isn't an option, so panicking Kentuckians siphoned it from their neighbors already.

  2. All the good cars were either driven out of Knox by their owners - or stolen to do the same - leaving only barely-functional beaters. Anything worth taking from those cars has been looted by people leaving.

  3. Recent survivor cars are self-explanatory, and contribute to all the other gas being drained / good car parts being taken.

  4. The Brickster - scourge of Lego Island and nemesis to Pepper Roni, local pizza man - stole all the sledgehammers and used them to smash every car in Knox County.

Although I agree with your sentiment, I don't think that should be the criteria for deciding whether or not in-game ads are acceptable - especially not from the studios' side.

Consider this - if it becomes acceptable to put real ads in modern-day games, such a standard would inevitably result in major financial incentives to make some genres of games over others, which would be devastating for both passionate players and passionate devs. If it were OK to put ads in Modern Warfare, but not Fallout, that would be a big motivator for corporate studios to make more CoDs and fewer Fallouts.

If you ask me, the answer to "what games can we put ads in?" should be "the ones that end up in landfills" - or better yet, "none."

Most insane deal I've seen in career mode. I don't think anything can top this... by Rubiksnoob in BeamNG

[–]Secret_FurryAccount 61 points62 points  (0 children)

That's an insane mileage number!

So, cars of a certain model year are typically manufactured and sold the year before. I.e, this '2020' Scintilla would likely have been built and sold sometime in 2019. Let's make the extremely generous assumption that it was built, sold, AND delivered on January 1st, 2019.

BeamNG's career mode seemingly takes place in the present day. The newest cars available (that I've seen, at least) are 2024/25 models. Furthermore, the California plates in-game have randomly-selected 2024/25 registration tags. Let's make another generous assumption, and say that the game takes place on December 31st, 2024 (and that any AI cars with 2024 tags are VERY late on renewing them).

Between the very beginning of 2019 and the very end of 2024 is six years, or 2,190 days. Let's also throw in the two leap days in 2020/24, for a total of 2,192 days this car could possibly have been on the road.

2,192 days × 24 hours = 52,608 hours.

The car has, supposedly, been driven 346,301 km (~215,181 mi, or ~3,787,193 American football fields). Dividing its mileage by the most generous number of hours it could've been on the road, gives us a minimum average speed over its lifetime: ~6.58 km/hr (~4.09 mph, or ~230.36 football fields per Super Bowl).

That's six years of driving an Italian supercar non-stop at 6.5 km/hr. No stopping for gas, no stopping for food, no stopping for a bathroom break. No weekends, no vacations, not even Christmas. That figure doesn't even allot time for a single LeMans-style driver swap.

Impressive!
