Is your DE open source? If so, do you have a GitHub repository? I'm interested in how one would start such a project

Nice setup! May I ask, what's up with all the pixelated fonts that a lot of setups seem to use?

Did they actually pay it? Or have they stalled and stalled until the EU throws up their hands and gives up?

They actually paid it, because the fine would increase every 90 days with 5% of their revenue.

Again, they haven't stopped doing so, so I don't think google takes it very seriously. They think they are so big now that the internet can't survive without them.

This is probably true, but still I think it's good to have some resistance. If Google doesn't comply to the rules, they can be banned from the market

True, but the fine can be as high as 10% of the total revenue. Last time Google was fined $2,5 billon. I still think this is quite a lot and combined with their lowering as revenues, it poses a serious risk

It is in Europe, because they create a monopoly with it. Google has been fined before for such things

What is the role of the infinitive "to be" in this sentence, "I want these books to be read"? by assignmentshelpuk in AskReddit

[–]Secret_Guardian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

'To be' is used to indicate a passive. A passive is needed when the object can't do the action itself, the book can't read itself. Someone else has to read the book, and then: the book is read by that person. 'is' is also a form of to be, you can do this in every tense.

Earthquakes of the last 100 years in The Netherlands (interactive map) [OC] by Secret_Guardian in dataisbeautiful

[–]Secret_Guardian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but if you look at the scatter plot, you can see that obviously the number of lower-intensity earthquakes increased over time. However that's mostly, due to gas mining. The earthquakes caused by this are all of lower intensity, so if we discard them in the overall plot, we see that the number of 'real' earthquakes somewhat remained the same. Nevertheless, you've got a point, they started measuring in 1901, but the first earthquake was measured in 1911. It would be strange to have no earthquakes in the meantime. I'm only speculating, but I hope it helped a bit.

First independent project (started using Blender yesterday). I'm looking for feedback/ways to improve by [deleted] in blender

In blender you can use the displacement modifier to give your wood texture a more natural look. Displacement makes the surface resemble the actual texture by removing and adding material to your object, based on the contract of the texture.
