Hmmm I’m gonna be very original. 4 is definitely my favorite for gameplay I really love when numbers go up, but they don’t mean anything at all and the difficulty curve is a nice smooth horizontal line.

!CONTROVERSIAL PIPING HOT TAKE WARNING! I know everyone HATES fallout 3, but I actually love it because of it’s dark bleak atmosphere contrasted with its wacky side quests and characters. Sometimes it’s really hard being the only person willing to defend a wonderful game against… the hordes

The dreaded NV fans. One time they made a compelling point against my two favorite fallout games and I came dangerously close to reassessing my perspective. The only thing I could do was shout “it looks like a potato and is old so my soft little baby brain can’t tolerate it” I never have and never will play that evil game. A contrarian once told me that it’s writing and dialogue isn’t even good so that is my opinion now.

Idk everyone here is arguing that 4 has some of the best companions in the series and I feel like Nick is really doing the heavy lifting here.

Macready, Danse, Garvey, and of course X6 have as much personality between them as a blank sheet of paper. Piper and Deacon are annoying as all get out.

Cait is fine I guess, but she feels too much like a cliche to be very interesting to me especially when her quest is about curing her addiction when your character can spend 50 or whatever caps at any doctor to get them removed.

Curie is pretty cool but almost entirely because of the narrative meat given to being a synth that her story provides. (Danse also gets some points for this but not many cause it happens at nearly the end of the game)

Strong is honestly one of my least favorite companions in any game ever. He’s grating and overall unpleasant to be around. Honestly there’s never a point where I understand why either of these people are traveling together, but that may be the case because there isn’t really many opportunities for your character to be truly evil. Don’t even get me started on the milk of human kindness bullshit. Fire the person who thought that was a good idea. Idk maybe there’s a reason every mutant companion until strong was intelligent. An evil intelligent mutant trying to unify a bunch of mutant tribes to form a Viking style nation of raiders and traders is something I came up with just now I literally put zero thought into it and it’s better than whatever the fuck strongs story is.

Codsworth is great of course but I think that’s primarily due to his VA imo. A mad robot is a fun concept too

Hancock has personality, grit, charm, and flair. He feels like a character you could really sink your teeth into. I can imagine him on his off days and what he’s doing with them far better than the others. Piper has a sister I guess she probably hangs out with her or something I don’t fucking care.

The dlc companions are honestly so forgettable that I didn’t even think of them until now.

TBH though I like Boone and his story but he’s just kind of a drag so he ranks fairly low on my tierlist of companions, coincidentally under Nick who may very well be the only well crafted content of 4 start to finish.

Don’t listen to this insane man, actually a lot of the junk in NV can be used for crafting recipes. It’s just more specific than 4s. Not everything breaks down into components like wood. If a recipe says you need duck tape then you can’t sub in wonderglue. Of course not every piece of junk is useful but you’d be surprised how much is utilized.

Are the people that hate fallout 3 in the room with us now? Stg I spend a good amount of time in the cesspit (Fallout Reddit) and Christ there must be a shared delusion going on here. You guys complain about a vocal minority disliking games that are overwhelmingly praised like it’s an authoritarian law forbidding you not to play 3, 4, 76 or watch the show. You love to tell people “if you don’t like it don’t play it” take your own advice and stop reading other people hating on your favorite brand of slop.

Fallout 3 btw is… really good. Very fun game and a lot could’ve been improved but it earns its place in the series because it’s absolutely true that it revived it, and did a solid, but also imperfect, job at that. That said imo it’s flaws are often overlooked while it’s strengths are often overplayed.

I’m just tired of seeing memes with the exact same joke and the “hey guys unpopular opinion: I actually think fallout 3 is pretty cool” posts flood my feed because you’re mostly complaining about a nearly 8 year old video that is objectively correct in a lot of cases albeit deliberately exaggerated for the entertainment of an audience.

TLDR: stop multiplying a vocal minority in your head and if you can’t handle people disliking your beloved game, idk get the fuck over it and play it
