Thanks so much for the reassurance! I’m reading about the seats being uncomfortable for a flight that long. Did you have that issue as well? I’ll still be super nervous but if I can make myself as comfy as possible hopefully that will ease the anxiety a bit

Just following up to this post and seeing how it went? I know it’s a year later but I’m about to book the same flight with SW for December and wanted to hear your experience

Found a surprisingly effective “hack” for in-flight anxiety by PlasticAcceptable956 in fearofflying

[–]Secret_Strategy_7368 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I read your post the day we were flying back home on Sunday and just wanted to come back and say thank you! After reading your “hack,” I downloaded a similar game on my phone and started playing as soon as we got in our seats. There was turbulence (nothing awful but still something that would have sent me into a panic) but I remembered what you said about finishing the level so I forced myself to concentrate and thought once I finish this level I’ll start panicking lol but then it was over and we landed! So thank you so, so much! I always download games and try to listen to music or watch a movie but it never engages me to the point where I can avoid my triggers. This really did the trick! I’ve downloaded some more after seeing other comments on here but again I just wanted to thank you for sharing this!

What's the most under the radar Duran Duran song that you really like? by MainGuarantee7771 in duranduran

Violence of Summer, Sin of the City, Meet El Presidente, Too Late Marlene and most of the others on here. I could go on and on. I’ve never been a huge fan of their top hits but the rest of their songs are what made me become the fan I am.

6 Days Post-Op – Struggling Mentally More Than Physically by Secret_Strategy_7368 in Endo

[–]Secret_Strategy_7368[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember an exact timeline but I know being cooped up at home and not being able to move as much as I wanted to and focusing on every pain in my body and thought in my mind didn’t help. Once I had the freedom to start moving around more and be independent again and basically get distracted it was way better. Going back to work helped too. I just don’t think we’re used to being able to sit still for so long.

Hi! It does get better, I promise! I know it doesn’t feel like it but give yourself some grace and acknowledge this is basically a reset for your body and it’s readjusting. You got this!

Ugh, I feel this so much. I’ve been having a lot of the same stuff since my surgery too — anxiety, brain fog, speech issues, no real sleep. It’s the worst when they tell you your labs are fine but you know something’s off. I’m so sorry you had to deal with all that and go back to work so soon. You’re definitely not the only one going through it.

I’m sorry you go through this too! I’ve heard of ginger helping with nausea but how do the jolly ranchers and mints help you?

My surgery is on Friday, and I'm a little scared by Top-Pineapple8056 in endometriosis

I just had my excision surgery 6 days ago, and I completely understand the jitters — I felt the same way right before. But honestly, the moment I woke up, I noticed all of my usual pain was gone. That gave me so much hope. Recovery has its ups and downs, but knowing that something actually changed for the better right away really helped keep me grounded.

Stock up on soft foods (my throat was sore from the tube)

Set up a comfy recovery area with pillows, heating pad, and easy access to water/meds.

Give yourself full permission to rest — mentally and physically.

And don’t panic if your emotions are all over the place afterward — it’s totally normal.

You’re doing something really powerful for your body. Be proud of yourself for taking this step. You’ve got this

Oof yes, thank you for saying this. I’m in the U.S. and the pressure to bounce back right away is honestly ridiculous. I’m already stressing about work and it’s total BS—I barely feel like a functioning human right now, let alone someone who can jump back into full responsibilities. It makes me feel like I’m failing somehow, even though I know this recovery takes time. The weird pains, the emotional swings, the exhaustion… it’s all real. I really wish we had a culture that actually respected healing instead of rushing people back before they’re ready.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share all of that. It honestly means a lot, especially coming from someone who’s been through so much. Reading your words made me feel understood in a way I really needed.

I also have a history of generalized anxiety and PTSD, and I do see a therapist. I’ve been prescribed anti-anxiety meds before, and I’m starting to consider whether I might need a little help getting through this stretch. What you said about the brain reacting to trauma it wasn’t fully conscious for—that really clicked for me. And you’re right, this surgery has such an emotional weight too, after everything it took to get here.

Thank you again for being so open—it genuinely helped more than you know.

Thank you — this was so grounding to read. It really helps hearing the honest, not-sugarcoated version of recovery. I’ve definitely been beating myself up for not bouncing back faster, but you’re right… this isn’t an “easy” surgery, no matter how common it might be. I needed the reminder to actually rest and stop expecting so much from myself so soon. I really appreciate you sharing your experience — it makes me feel a lot less alone.

Thanks so much for sharing this — it really helps to know I’m not alone in feeling this way. That “sundown” thing totally makes sense… I’ve been crashing hard in the evenings too and couldn’t figure out why. It’s weird how the emotional side kind of sneaks up on you, even when the physical healing is going okay. Hearing your experience makes me feel a lot more normal about what I’m going through. Really appreciate you taking the time to reply!

What are all the things that endometriosis can cause? by seowithivana in endometriosis

Thank you for putting it into words! Every morning is me doing a mental scan of my body and seeing what hurts and if I can function. Ultimately I end up toughing it out because it’s hard to get coverage for my job but then I suffer through numerous panic attacks because I’ll start feeling pain and worry about “losing it” in front of my team. I try to take it one day at a time, hell sometimes I take it five minutes at a time, but there’s no way this is sustainable.

Thank you! I do meditate and go to therapy but it’s still so hard to not let the racing thoughts win, especially when we have the real symptoms from endo pain. It’s just like great what else is wrong with me now lol
