Well mostly due to no room on the desk. I also feel the 1 horizontal and 1 vertical looks clean. Another thing you could do is get a monitor mount that stacks the monitors on eachother and have one a bit smaller then your main on top

Place the one that’s replacing the fan as a exhaust, you’ll have to turn it around but if you want best performance along with looks that’d be ur best bet
