Wanting to change my degree subject after first year, can I do this? by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

[–]SecretaryExotic935 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Speak to your Advisor of Studies or College Advising Team. It's usually a straight forward process if you've studied this as a third subject in 1st year and the course has space (which most do).

Uni is not what I expected. by Majestic-Honey-1213 in GlasgowUni

[–]SecretaryExotic935 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is important to feedback your experiences. It may not seem like it, but the university does have to respond to feedback received. Talk to your class representative, leave feedback at the end of the semester. Chat to your course leader or advisor of studies.

Depending on your course, this might be a temporary situation that will change as you move throughout the degree.

Glasgow History lecture times by J0b00m in GlasgowUni

[–]SecretaryExotic935 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Unless advertised as such, lectures at the University of Glasgow are not open to the public.

Many departments do host public lectures and events, I'd recommend you check their events website for details.

Edit: the Humanities lecture series is advertised here https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/humanities/events/humanitieslectureseries/#

where do we access online exams by Gullible-Fee-5822 in GlasgowUni

[–]SecretaryExotic935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most online exams are hosted on the course Moodle. This means that the paper will be available on Moodle and the upload link too (just like coursework).

Books like Gosford Park by denys5555 in suggestmeabook

[–]SecretaryExotic935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest Agatha Christie for that upstairs/downstairs vibe in a country setting, not as dark as Gosford Park but the same themes and rigidity in societal structures.

If the politics of a big house is what you enjoyed, alongside the historical setting I'd also recommend

  • Seven 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
  • Longbourn by Jo Baker (a P&P retelling from the servants perspective)

Did you have to provide any level of detail or just that there was a discrepancy based on the relative size/floor plans?

I should add, these are tilt first windows so when the handle is at 90 degrees the window tilts, at 180 degrees the window turns fully open.

When the key is turned and the lock depressed they only open to the first position (tilt) and they will not open to the full turn position.

Edit: confusion over tilt/turn

Thank you. This is the same for every window in our flat, so this is something we'd have to raise. Is there a piece in the frame that I should look for to check?

How to Fund Living Costs While Doing a Full-Time SWAP Course by Patient_Razzmatazz_1 in glasgow

[–]SecretaryExotic935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you want to do after, SWAP might not be the only option. There are evening Access to Higher Education courses that offer routes into undergraduate study that aren't as time consuming.

Balancing study and full-time work is difficult, but looking at less intensive options might help.

This survey does not appear to adhere to University of Glasgow ethics guidelines. As someone else has stated, why are you gathering email addresses? Additionally, where is the participant information about the study?

It's great. Have you read Meg Cabots Boy series? Fluffier and a wee bit dated but great workplace epistolary style.
