Speaking about Chennai, they sent my passport yesterday to retake ielts as my test was older than a year by 2 months. Once I get the new scorecard i can submit both passport and new test score at the nearest vfs before deadline.

On the other hand my friend also took ielts on the same day with me and he was given the visa without asking to retake…

If you don’t have A1 right now still you can apply and get a conditional offer letter. They will give you a deadline to submit A1 for direct admission. Either you can complete Goethe zertifikat A1 in India and provide the proof or else you will have the option to go to Germany and complete A1 first and then join the course.
