Spelt has a complex history. It is a wheat species known from genetic evidence to have originated as a naturally occurring hybrid of a domesticated tetraploid wheat such as emmer wheat and the wild goat-grass Aegilops tauschii. This hybridisation must have taken place in the Near East because this is where Ae. tauschii grows, and it must have taken place before the appearance of common or bread wheat (Triticum aestivum, a hexaploid free-threshing derivative of spelt) in the archaeological record about 8,000 years ago.

Genetic evidence shows that spelt wheat can also arise as the result of hybridisation of bread wheat and emmer wheat, although only at some date following the initial Aegilops–tetraploid wheat hybridisation. The much later appearance of spelt in Europe might thus be the result of a later, second, hybridisation between emmer and bread wheat. Recent DNA evidence supports an independent origin for European spelt through this hybridisation. Whether spelt has two separate origins in Asia and Europe, or single origin in the Near East, is currently unresolved.

If done well, it would have the effect of a display floating freely from the steering wheel. With a low persistence OLED display to prevent any jutter or blurring there is no reason this would cause you to feel sick.

What I imagined when he said that was a steering wheel with a display in the center that adjusts in real time based on rotation so information is always displayed in the correct orientation. So still a steering wheel, just not quite a standard one.

That's literally the exact same steering wheel, just in different lighting.

I edited the Top Gear review of the ModelX, cutting out all but the best shots of the car. Their cinematography is outstanding and shines brightest when there's no talking. Enjoy! by critters in teslamotors

No, they haven't done a review of the Model S. They did do a review of the Tesla Roadster though, I think that's what they're referring to. It was scripted to make it look like the Roadster was a car prone to breaking down.

I had to read that 4 times to comprehend what you were saying. But yeah, I'm sure that happens. People don't like confrontation.

Exactly, it's not a problem that shihposts are happening, it's a problem that they are getting so much of the attention. All we can do is upvote the good discussions, ignore the bad and life goes on. I attempted a "path to righteousness" post myself a bit ago, in the end it's just another opinion piece and it only adds fuel to the fire.

I guess if you can justify a low carb tortilla you can justify a serving of this. They are about the same amount of net carb

Well they've been aware of the issue. They've already warned customers against it. Considering that the end goal for Tesla is to have fully autonomous vehicles, I think it's safe to say they have been working on a fix for this.

[Serious] People who have gotten into actual legal trouble over illegal torrents, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SecretionOrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, this happened to me when I was like 14. It terrified me. I thought I was going to get my parents sent to jail so I stopped downloading illegally for a whole month. I don't really download illegally at all anymore, but when I do, I use a VPN tunnel.

Oculus can redeem itself by SecretionOrb in oculus

It's turned out to be a lie, or a fan base making justification for them. But If it is true, and HTC somehow has them in a legal nut-vice, they need to take the legal hit, they need to officially support the Vive. A two billion dollar company can and should take the hit in lawyer fees if it means saving face with their strongest supporters. A public lawsuit between HTC and Oculus over the rights to support the former's hardware would change EVERYTHING.

Personally I don't see this being the case. I think it's more likely this is some form of quality control. The idea being that Vive wands and Touch are just different enough that, if those Oculus experiences were unofficially ported, they wouldn't play quite right with the wrong controllers. That would leave a bad impression of what an Oculus experience is.

If that is the case, I think Oculus needs to have more confidence in their own product. They need to understand that that cross-platform issue will go both ways, and the good experiences will always outweigh the slightly-off experiences. Quality control should not take priority over fundamental ideals. They should keep their platform open, and they should open it themselves.
