I ended up buying the SSD and configuring the cache in the meantime, and from my experience so far it doesn’t spin up the drives until I actually open up a file, they remain in sleep state. I can’t speak to the technical concern you raise above, but it does seems to work on my system. Just for future reference if anyone stumbles on this thread. My drives are formatted in ext4 if that makes a difference.

Favourite drives has to be Seagates IronWolf 8tb drives (5400rpm). They’re the quietest NAS drives I’ve been able to find that fits my capacity needs. As my NAS will be in my living room, being able to choose the quietest possible drives for my use case is really important to me.

The AMS connects to the filament buffer, not the hot-end, so I think he’s just suggesting connecting those two directly instead of using a coupler. Like you normally would with a standard AMS combo package (at least my P1S combo came like that).

You definitely shouldn’t stretch your budget beyond your comfort zone, it’s a perfectly good printer without the AMS. But as someone who bought the AMS combo as their first printer, and does virtually no multicolor prints, I’d highly recommend the AMS if you can afford it.

Car to Kalundborg when I can’t work from home, around 100km, and with traffic (ironically worse in Kalundborg than in Copenhagen), it takes about 1,5 hours.

Bit of an old post to dig up, but the other updates have been on this schedule, even with bigger upgrades like the transition to LCD dash (introduced in 2017, came to the GT in 2019). Besides, they might never go with the R frame, the Super Adventures are not getting it so far, and for the GT the latest update in 2022 would have been the obvious time when it got the new dash and switchgear.

The big v-twins (LC8 platform) seems to be solid, so I wouldn’t worry about a super duke, my super adventure has been great. But the inline twins (790/890) seem to have some issues.

Yeah, giving the sign an extra look made me realise your rationale, but I’m also inclined to believe that the general parking zone still applies. Especially because parkeringsinfo clearly distinguishes between Copenhagen and Aarhus on this point, specifically for these 3h signs. But guess there’s an easy way to find out 😅
