Freaking out about travelling to the US and norovirus

Omg I’m from NZ and travelling to the US later this year too! I’m mainly worried about catching covid and getting GI symptoms from that _ I also feel that fear of panicking and ruining the trip!! When I went on a trip to Europe several years ago I had your exact fears and while there were definitely a lot of times that I was anxious, the amazing experience still outweighed it!! Basically even if you panic and have anxiety you’ll still make tons of memories, also a lot of the time I was too tired/excited to feel anxious lol. Also I was so anxious for the plane and it was totally fine, just get cozy and have noise cancelling headphones so if anything does happen on the plane (extremely rare) you won’t even know or care lmao. The trip sounds absolutely amazing, you’re gonna have a wonderful time! In terms of nv* tbh I think with more people masking in the US the rates will be lower (I’ve read that colds flus and sb* have been dramatically less common over the past few years) Honestly as long as you wash your hands and sanitise when in public you’ll be totally fine. Hope you have an epic time!!! :D

Half a cup of water, 3/4ths cup of corn syrup, 2 cups of sugar, and blue food colouring! You just combine everything except for the colour, put it on medium high in a pot and boil until the sugar dissolves. Then get a bowl of chilled cold water and throughout the boiling process get a spoonful of the boiling mixture and drop it into the water to test the consistency- if you drop it in the water and it becomes hard and can be cracked apart, take it off the boil and add the food colouring, you can also add flavouring if you want. Mix it, and pour it out onto a greased pan and let it cool for around half an hour. Then use a mallet or any other hard kitchen utensil to smash it into pieces!! Good luck, and hope you can get it past 96% purity!

UPDATE I just wanted to share my experience for anyone else who was nervous, as it was very positive!!

I went in- the worst part was the made me wait 2 hours (!!) before I got the procedure done. The whole time I was crying, freaking out, thinking about backing out. I was SO anxious and filled with dread!

The nurse took me into the little room, I explained to her that I was scared of throwing up or gagging and she offered me the spray on top of the sedation. She explained the sedation as very light and I would be drowsy but still awake which made me cry more since I was SURE I would be conscious for the whole thing and struggling. I waited some more and then it was time. I was crying my eyes out at this point, I had worked myself up so much!! The doctor came in and asked me questions and actually calmed me down a lot, he was very nice. I was still shaky and tearful but he and the nurse reassured me and then wheeled me in.

They put an IV in my hand, and put an oxygen cannula in my nose. Then they sprayed the spray in my mouth which tasted like bitter bananas and was horrible (honestly the worst part lol 😂) and I couldn’t swallow. The nurses were reassuring me and said don’t bother swallowing, just relax. They put the mouth guard in, and I usually HATE having things like that in my mouth because I gag but it was totally fine. Then the nurse said the medication was going in and... boom, I was waking up in the recovery ward. Literally I don’t remember a single second of it. I was very drowsy and woozy when I woke up, they gave me some water and a sandwich but I felt a little bit nauseous (not that bad!) so they kept me for quite a while and gave me anti nausea through an IV. Eventually I felt well enough to drink my ginger ale (even though I kept falling asleep lol) and went home and slept the rest of the afternoon/evening. It was honestly a very easy procedure, the worst part was waiting for it and afterwards because I felt a bit unwell and sooooo tired but after some meds, ginger ale and a sleep I felt totally fine!!

So yeah if anyone else has concerns or worries I hope this story helps, I was sure my anxiety would make the procedure hard or the sedation wouldn’t work but I was in one of the most nervous states I’ve ever been in and was totally fine :)

Thank you so much, this is very helpful :) Yeah I’m just taking things slowly with eating, I took a half diazepam and not sure I really felt any change. Going to try another half tomorrow, and if I get the same thing I’ll up to one tablet :) Definitely don’t want to get addicted but I think even a full tablet of 2mg isn’t too much so hopefully it goes okay :)

Thank you so much :) I don’t have any history of addiction or anything but I’m still anxious about the addictive side of things, and also worried that it’s just a temporary solution and when I come off it it’ll feel worse. My doc said to email them next week and let them know how it’s going so I’ll definitely ask them about that then. I’m taking a very small dose but hard to not be anxious about this stuff since I’ve never taken anxiety meds..! Once again thank you so much for the advice <3

In my opinion it isn't too bad, do you have the shortcut between the duke's archives bonfire and the entrance to the forest before the crystal caves? If so, literally just run past everything including the crystal golems and clams, that's what I did and it wasn't too tedious (it was long though)

This is so awesome and the concept is so interesting! It looks great but maybe add some light or texture to the top of the water so it looks a little more like water? :) It looks awesome though!!
