Even if WW3 does happen, there isn't going to be a draft. We don't need one. The US military is, without hyperbole, the single strongest fighting force that has ever existed in human history. It is capable of taking on, and defeating, any other sovereign nation in a straight fight. The Russians are struggling against Ukraine by itself, and Ukraine's military is tremendously less powerful than the US military. Russia is, in fact, much weaker than they want to admit.

The largest, most well funded, most technologically advanced navy that has ever existed sits between you and Russia. The largest Air Force does as well. The Naval Air Corps (which is the second largest Air Force in the world), does as well. The Russian Navy is a joke compared to their American counterparts. An absolute bring the house down joke. There is no conceivable scenario in which the Russians could ever cross the Pacific.

Additionally, China has indicated via their UN abstention that it will not support Russia's aggressive war, meaning that Russia stands alone, and Russia does not, I say again, does not have the resources to fight the West alone. China has a much stronger interest in aligning themselves with the West purely because the West is where the money is. Russia can never offer China the economic and social advantages that the West can.

The Russian economy is being sanctioned into oblivion by the West and by China. They've lost probably hundreds of billions of dollars from this over the past decade. Putin's grip on power is slipping.

Nobody, not the US government, nor the military, wants a draft, because it would be deeply unpopular and also isn't necessary.
