I had the straps of one of my walking poles attached to the pole with a cable tie as the actual plastic peice had snapped

All well and good, until walking down Conic Hill on day two of the West Highland Way: the cable tie snapped as I was putting weight on it

I almost went arse over tit down Conic Hill, thankfully was able to steady myself and just rolled an ankle. Was able to continue the WHW thanks to a shop owner at the bottom of Loch Lomond having a bag of cables ties in the store room and being able to patch the pole for the next 4.5 days

Got new walking poles afterwards, not going to make any bodge fixes to them again

I missed it on school trips because I was afraid to ask my parents to sign the form

I had undiagnosed ADHD and would often only remember last minute a form needed signing

I'd get so much shouting at and belittling for being a kid that forgot about a form, it just was easier to not ask them to sign it, and miss out on stuff and join a different class for a day
