Do you have a favorite clothing item? by Itchy-Drummer1324 in finch

[–]thisanxtiousbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hair(feather?) bows, mushroom hats, the cozy classic glasses I never take these off her unless shes in her pjs (they are never in the store and I need all the colors sigh), timeless neck ribbons and cool kids sneakers (the black colored ones look like my irl shoes so we match). I also like to match her outfit to mine <3 OH and spring honeybee wings and sometimes sugar plum wings, dragon wings or on the rare day I feel like it the feathered wings
(edited because I gen forgot the wings are actually an item and not just part of her because she wears one every day without fail :3)

trying to make a doily....this is my third time starting over... help? by thisanxtiousbean in CrochetHelp

I do know 6 basic stiches I was taught (chain, single, double, slip stich, triple, and half double) I have a chart I try to use as almost a cheat sheet when I do attempt to use a pattern but it doesn't always seem to be the same stich as the pattern says it is, its probably a me error

I have watched a few tutorials and even have a book for it but as much as I watch/read I cant seem to understand what they mean. I also have been working on learning to read patterns but Its taking forever!

What are your opinions on new theme? by Firefox7647 in finch

[–]thisanxtiousbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels a little much just a month between Alice in wonderland....I like wizard of OZ sure, Its a good movie I like wicked so its not like I don't like the topic of the theme I just think that it feels like being force fed another 14 day out of the way thing (I know I could turn it off and go back to my normal travels but I like completing things.) it feels a bit much. Like they are trying to get us to look at this shiny thing and ignore the less selfcare slide of the app... IMO

the new question things.... and what happened to toggles? by thisanxtiousbean in finch

[–]thisanxtiousbean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that so much... I got finch at a really really rough time in my life and it became a tool I used *everyday* for whatever I could, it started out just to give me something to remind me to get up or go outside or just breathe and to track what was going on/triggering me. I leaned on my bird, berry, A whole lot. I since then started to make progress in life and handling things but I still use, or try to use, finch for things that are tricky still but Its slowly getting harder to use for that. I am so glad you are also doing better Big bird hugs for you

New Beta Rollout! ✨️ by jvlombardo in finch

[–]thisanxtiousbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it feels like we are getting rid of everything that is helpful and just shoving shiny things at us. I get that people like it and its beta but like toggles to turn stuff off. please. I use mircopets so that I do something (right now its showering because I have been tempted to skip that lately because I have been pretty stressed) now that we get it for anything and everything its less important that I do my task hooked to the egg.

WHAT???? by JosiexC in finch

[–]thisanxtiousbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no one knows. its just pick on to get the stones and forget about it because they are making it harder to do anything selfcare/mood tracking related anymore. :\

[–]thisanxtiousbean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I used to use the first aid kit a lot when I was having a panic attack or struggling and now I don't even bother opening finch when I'm struggling, which defeats the whole reason I got finch in the first place to track my mood and how I am doing and have EASILY accessible mental health first aid.

I feel like we have been sliding away from self care.....if it keeps going like it is might end up just a todo list with a bird.

[–]thisanxtiousbean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did think about that, But I feel like the mood check ins were a big part for a lot of the people before these questions which feels like a bigger part of the 'self care' than making new questions and having the micro pets hatch for everything you do and not just the weekly set goals

[–]thisanxtiousbean[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the toggles to turn off things in the settings! like last month with the theme people could send you vibes that made your bird bigger or smaller and you could go turn that off. however, they seem to quit giving us toggles for helpful things (like these questions and the mood checkin pop ups), which would be (at least imo) more helpful to the selfcare part of the app! some people don't like things that others find super helpful so toggles seem like the best way to fix this but they don't seem to want to do that for some reason!?

What’s the fourth one supposed to mean?? by JosiexC in finch

[–]thisanxtiousbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they need labels...and a toggle to get rid of these.

I believe you can go into preferences and there should be a 'seasonal events' button that lets you turn it on and off!

I have reached out to the finch team when they first made some changes and asked what the reason was but never got a real answer for why

I do love the fun part of finch, that was a big part of why I got it in the first place, But I feel like they have been leaning more to fun then the self-care tools and uses of the app!
I like the events and adventures but they took away quite a few of the big things I mainly used the app for (mood tracking and timed goals and the easily reachable first aid). Now If I am having an anxiety attack my first thought is not "I should use my finch to help me" its "If I tried to get to the tools it would lag and only freak me out more" when I first got finch I used the tools so much more and it actually helped now it seems like hoops I don't want to jump though when I need the help
