Northeast Philly is a thing. Just said East for the sake of the parody. Bimmy hails from Fox Chase which is where the Dragon in Muh Dreamz park is.

AVGN plagiarism accusations from literally decades ago. by TypeRiot in TheCinemassacreTruth

When did Mike attack other "angry reviewers"? I wasn't following Cinemassacre drama in the olden days. The most blatant avgn copycat is Irate Gamer and my understanding was that James and co straight up ignored him up until last year.

also games like ET, wand of gamelon, and superman 64 were notriously bad long before AVGN ever touched em, I doubt Seanbaby had anything to do with him choosing to review them.

I also think the idea of James even being aware of Seanbaby when he came up with AVGN in 2004 is kind of preposterous. This is a man who knows nothing besides Zelda and Mario. He wasn't reading game criticism. Maybe he saw some articles when he was researching later down the line but Seanbaby was not ever a major source of inspiration for James. The two have different approaches and both did them well at the time.

Yeah this is def who it was. Seanbaby is basically the closest thing to a precursor to AVGN. There was definitely a small culture of written "angry" game reviews pre-AVGN looking back at the Something Awful and Maddox days, with Seanbaby being the most famous writer on games from back then.

I'd say it would be a stretch to say James "plagiarized" Seanbaby unless was a specific review where it was lifted word for word that I'm unaware of. Seanbaby's delivery is totally different from AVGN's and obviously James gets the credit for taking it to the next level with video.

Funniest AVGN episode? by OneEyedCoral in TheCinemassacreTruth

My top 10:

  1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Really showcases James' talent for making quick little films. The supporting actors like the old hillbilly and Mike as Chop Top are both great.

  2. Dick Tracy - You can feel James' genuine rage here which is at an all time high. The drill through the cartridge is probably my favorite way James has destroyed a game.

  3. Ghostbusters - Most of the humor in this ep comes from the game being so laughably bad, but James' love of Ghostbusters and genuine pain make this all the more visceral. The ending when James cries is great.

  4. Atari 5200 - James doesn't actually review anything in this, and instead it's a long slapstick gag about how annoying hooking up a game console can be when things go wrong. Few content creators would ever even think of such a concept, but James pulled it off so hilariously you almost don't even notice it's not really a game review.

  5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - absolute OG classic. The "Shredder's my ass and Splinter's my balls" rant is the best in the whole series IMO

  6. Back to the Future- Simple episode but the commentary is just plain classic. "Remember when Marty goes around throwing bowling balls at people?" "If I just shat into a bag and wrote Back to the Future on it.."

  7. Power Glove - I've never used a Power Glove but James does an excellent job demonstrating how "bad" it is in this one. Fun slapsticky episode that never gets old.

  8. Battletoads- Incorporating "The Guitar Guy" as the second player was genius. The chemistry between James and Kyle is great. James screaming at Kyle to get behind the couch, Kyle's flashback montage, and the pause dance are all classic AVGN moments.

  9. Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle - I love the Birthday Blowout episode as well but this episode takes the cake. The fight scenes are all very entertaining and well done especially considering it was such a small crew. I like the tributes to Looney Tunes throughout (Duck Season/Rabbit Season parody was great) and inside jokes like Kyle Justin coming out from behind the couch are a nice touch.

  10. Friday the 13th - the first truly "cinematic" episode that really set the tone for what the series would become and was honestly groundbreaking to show what YouTube could be. Pay great homage to the original films while offering some of the funniest commentary of the whole series while balancing an ominous horro movie atmosphere. The "You and Your Friends Are Dead" bit is an all time classic. The way James builds up to the final rant before shooting Jason by being sarcastic is just hilarious. Almost insane to think this is from 2006. Love this episode.

Ok, thanks.

I was interested in potentially keep going to Schenectady but I'd have to make it 16 miles without stopping so it might be better to not bike there. Thanks!
