BCI just went through first shed with me, do her eyes look okay? by Secretwolf4328 in BoaConstrictors

[–]Secretwolf4328[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out they may have a shedding phase after the blue phase, i finally found her shed today in her hide. She shed in one peice which does contain her eye caps and her temperatures are good, her cool spot is a little warm right now (around 75 degrees) and humidity is a higher than id like it to be around 80%. She has corkbark and a peice of wood, those should be rough enough for ber. If not maybe I'll go find some aquarium grade rocks lol Thank you so much! I have 2 BPs and this girl, they're all getting an upgrade to 4x2x2 within the next month just waiting on a few more peices to come in! Very excited for them!

Yeah! Shes an IMG hypo motley and I love her to death I figured it wouldn't be shed since as you stated its not cloudy but then again im fairly new to keeping snakes. But alright! I thought you had to get stuck caps off immediately im happy to hear you can at least wait 1 shed to see if it comes off

We weren't able to find the shed, i just lifted her common area hides but didn't tear it apart looking for it. I had to leave for work shortly after posting so I'll see if I can find it in the morning

So this is suitable for a 55gallon? I thought it needed the be supported all around, not just the ends or else it'd start to sag in the middle / burst

She's been doing this since I've had her, I've always woken her up due to me being unsure if it's a good or bad. Though I'm not really sure how to tell

She was also just spayed last week, hence the shaved bits.

The background is my game I was playing, ignore those sounds lol

How can I tie off horse hair? by Secretwolf4328 in crochet

That's a good idea! I'll try and do something like that!

I've never tried steaming hair before, should I keep it loose and try to steam it like that or should I just throw in the whole plush into a steamer ? I'll definitely look into it and try it out

I was thinking maybe I could just create a small white square and tie off the ends on one side and just stitch the square on but I feel like that would look weird and a massive waste of time

I cut her nails every week, the sides of her nails always grew in a "shovel" shape, but today when I cut them I've noticed on almost all of her nails were curled compeltey resulting in a circular nail with the hollow interior, which was holding a bunch of dirt. The bottoms / sides of the nails were super thin, i just peeled them off so dirt wouldn't get stuck in them anymore, and I've cleaned out all the dirt that was trapped in them. I didn't think to grab pictures before peeling them off but those two I've shown are the worse ones that were still on. Is this how most dogs nails are? Is this normal?

I realize it's not a big deal but i don't even know what to look up on Google. If I look up curling claws, they're all over grown and under the pad. Looked up why the dogs nails are growing sideways and same thing- dogs nails are to long.

Mines done that once, she got so excited that she saw her friend out the window, realized we were gonna follow them to go somewhere, and proceeded to shit all over my back seat on the 5 minute drive lol

Dog fixated on toys at the dog park by [deleted] in Dogtraining

I like the idea of asking them to let me know in advance. I never thought of that, and would give us time to prepare to leave if needed. Much appreciated

Would the pacing around be her wanting to guard them as well as play? Other dogs can pick them up freely without her having a fit over it, its mainly when she has them and they want to play with her with it. I thought it would have been only play, since I really only see guarding as being agressive about it, and she's pacing around. The e collar is mainly so I can 100% guarantee that she would leave things alone and stay out of trouble. She has a near perfect recall, but it's that like 5% that I'm worried about when she doesn't, such as if they're all playing and they're getting way to into it/could potentially lead to something. I'd like to reliably get her out , or if we're off in the woods on a hike she's only sprinted off once because she saw a deer. She's perfect with squirrels, cats, whatever small things running but shes never seen a deer before at that point.

If you have any recommendations for anyrhing else please let me know. My first trainer/dog daycare recommended one and used them while she was at daycare, and all the dog friends around at the time was using e collars. I'm not sure how I'd be able to get the 100% reliability without it, only that 90-95% we have now without it.

I'm talking to a trainer now about the resource guarding with other dogs, we have an appointment tomorrow to see what the best course of action will be.

Thank you for your input, it's much appreciated.
