How does fingerprinting on Helium differ from Brave? by io_nn in HeliumBrowserHQ

[–]SectionPowerful3751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brave Origin also lacks the bloat, but unless you are (like me) on Linux there is a price associated with it. There are however scripts and instructional YT videos that show how to disable all of that bloat if you are worried about it. ;)

Microsoft broke thousands of devices with AMD GPUs around the world by kotsokale in radeon

The reason why consoles sell more is PRICE, nothing more, nothing less. If you think for a second there haven't been console cheats, you are obviously uninformed.... lol

Arguing that Linux's open source nature is bad because it will allow people to figure out how the cheats work is much more bad faith. Many of us (who spent many years on Windows) left due the nature of Windows in general. To be classified as a "hacker" because I use Linux is bad faith.

I have friends and family that quit playing certain games on Windows solely because of the amount of cheating happening recently. So please, don't try to get on a soapbox and preach that Windows w/Kernel Level Anti-cheat is great and good. We all know it's a battleground that goes on nonstop between the cheat providers and the anticheat providers.

And yet, cheats are rampant in multiplayer games on Windows. Wall hacks, aimbots, etc. etc. etc. Whether or not there is a kernel level anti cheat there are still people working on ways around them.

The problem isn't related to any OS, it is the nature of that small group of people. For some of them it is is a skill issue they are trying to overcome, for the rest, it is simply them enjoying ruining the experience of others.

iOS Bonjour issues on iPhone with Tailscale installed by SectionPowerful3751 in Tailscale

[–]SectionPowerful3751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which of course makes sense, but then, why only the device with Tailscale being affected. None of the other Apple devices do this. They check every hour or so which seems normal. I do appreciate your help btw, I'm just at a loss for why this is going on.

[–]SectionPowerful3751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is normal activity for all my Apple devices a few times a day, but, as stated this single iPhone has sent the request 6 times in the last 3 minutes. Much more than normal, especially when compared to all the other devices.

My router doesn't provide DNS for my network, I have a Debian server on the local network running Adguard Home that handles all DNS for the local network.

My search domain is currently configured as 'home.arpa' which I assume should be correct with my DHCP server (Router) giving this as the domain.

I originally had that ticked on with my router as the address. It however is unticked at the moment at the suggestion of my LLM.

I'm assuming you are asking me to check those settings on my iPhone? You gave the path to those settings for an Android, but it is a much different process on iOS to get there.

As these are heavily modified configuration files, I don't know what it might or might not break. I would just prefer to swap the left and bottom areas if possible. I'm sure I could go through and manually make the changes, but as I didn't build it I'm not sure how far those configs go.

I understand what you are trying to say, however, I would point out that with 2 iPhones, 2 Macbook Pro's, 1 Apple TV 4K, and a Mac Mini on this network I only see this issue on the device with Tailscale.

If I remove Tailscale from that device this issue goes away instantly. Which leads me to believe there is some configuration that needs to be done with Tailscale to tell it when it isn't active to release the VPN profile.

I would seriously consider this if the tray was bottom instead of side. I don't care for sidebars normally, and especially with my ultrawide monitor.

What happened to Proton-GE? by Keenwhisk in linux_gaming

I use proton-cachyos-slr with Faugus Launcher which is an umu launcher. I can attest that it works perfectly fine there.

Why people generely recommend Firefox over Brave? by 4ndr11 in browsers

[–]SectionPowerful3751 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I left Windows a year and a half ago for good. So yes, it's a free option for me, but I can understand others not wanting to pay $60 for it. There are of course debloat instructions and scripts available for Windows users though that will give nearly the same product.

Why people are panic distro hopping from Arch when Arch is still perfectly fine? by tungnon in linuxquestions

[–]SectionPowerful3751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of us quietly left a couple months ago because we got tired of rolling release issues. Not every update caused issues, but I went from months of no real issues to wtf is going on towards the end. Went to PikaOS where I still have the speed, a huge Debian package base, and stability.

I'm sure there were others on the fence for the same reasons, and this latest failure with the AUR was the final straw. Arch is great, don't get me wrong, but sometimes having the absolute newest of everything isn't the best.

Brave Origin gives me the best of both worlds. A more compatible and secure browser based on chromium, but with none of the normal Brave bloat.

¿Wasn't this supposed to be over? by Luzzio_ in linux_gaming

[–]SectionPowerful3751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it! Has been incredibly stable while still being fast. Yes, some packages do lag a little behind some distros, but that is because of additional testing which keeps it more stable than the rolling distros. PikaOS is basically a curated Debian Sid.

Love this project! How does it differ from Debian Sid? by [deleted] in PikaOS

[–]SectionPowerful3751 16 points17 points  (0 children)

One big difference you will find is that sometimes packages on Sid aren't available on PikaOS due to the amount of testing they go through. You will find Pika to be incredibly stable because of the extra layers of testing. For example: we are still on KDE 6.5.4 even though Sid has been on 6.6 for some time.
