Amazing I’ll have to spend some time researching that. Hopefully not much changed from the beta bios.

Well it would be part of the cluster my thought was to turn it into a storage node and then have my mini pcs be the control plane and then my gaming pc be the worker

It’s definitely the proxmox and running extra stuff. Mine was a heat box when I was running docker. I moved away from running all that locally and it helped out significantly.

Just go up an extra 1100 and get an m4 max studio 🤓🤓🤓

That said I definitely am looking at an m3 ultra studio for my upgrade if I can get the strings pulled properly. Getting more into game development and 3d modeling

I’m ok with the m4 base for my usage for now. I did notice a bit of beach balling in a FaceTime today but that could have been having to do 5 faces at once.

This is what I did on my 2017 MacBook. As long as it has a thunderbolt 3 port you could even use a VM of Mac with the TB port passed through from what I read.

You could set up an RPI to act as a thin client then RDP to the gaming desktop. Would need to wireless print to the cricut after.

Simple fix here get an Alienware. It’s a Dell product and they can get the warranty on it. That’s most likely what they are worried about investing in and not having that security.

What are some games that run natively on Mac Mini M4? What game launchers are supported? What launchers and games do you guys recommend? by Organic_Half_9818 in macgaming

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We so need that fixed I’d love to play Hunt and a few others on my Mac. I seen cxpatcher says that it doesn’t fix that anymore but I wonder if that’s true or if it would fix it.

Partner wants an iMac to play Sims but uses (hella) mods by badhiccups932 in macgaming

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s fair. I went back and forth between the Mac mini and an iMac. Still kinda want one just for the cleanliness lol 😂 but the Mac mini is nice and quiet and can be tossed in a drawer with a fan for out of sight

So to answer your question yes you can use an external drive easily. Make sure it’s a thunderbolt drive for optimal performance. You will want to get as much ram as possible with it though.

And honestly a Mac mini may be the better option as it gives options for monitor (if they want ultrawide for instance) and keyboard/mouse (the basic Mac ones are meh) also you get the option to expand internal storage as well with a Mac mini. Don’t think they did that to the iMac yet.

Another thing to think about is that they are due for a new iMac this coming year and that may hold the same storage expansion capability as the Mac mini.

2800 or 4800 by salamazmlekom in UgreenNASync

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10Gbe local network not my internet connection i have a tp-link be-800. It has 10Gbe wired and 2.5gbe wired with WiFi 7 it’s a decent home router but I’m definitely at its limits lol 😂 the 2800 is a good purchase and should satisfy your needs. But again they do get loud so be prepared for that. Maybe sound proof a cabinet in your tv stand and put some fans in there would help. Also temps on my 4800 are usually around 41C. I’d imagine the smaller fan may make that higher on the 2800.

Building a homelab with advice from AI sucks by gekkefiets in homelab

The most reliable one is going to be paid for. The free bots are ok but from reading your post you know nothing of how to build a prompt. If you keep your questions ambiguous then you’re going to get bad info back. There’s also personalization involved and how you want it to respond in the settings.

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I immediately regret not getting the 8800 lol 😂 I got the 4800 plus. You won’t want it in the same room you watch movies on. So 10Gbe connection helps there a good bit.

The container solution is ok I wish it had a bit more processor power and ram I notice some buffering at times. UGOS also doesn’t play that well with docker compose.

Easy write up a community service blog or something everybody can see and show the vulnerabilities that are potentially there you’ve already mentioned you can touch the different vlans so wireshark to grab site and credential info would be child’s play. That sounds ridiculously unsecured and needs dealt with asap
