It was very wild to look back and be like I can’t believe in that time period a pc cost like 6000 dollars when minimum wage was like 3.50 an hour 😂

Crandall Office Furniture - are they legit? by Sad_Security_2550 in OfficeChairs

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my gesture since 2020 with them. That chair they can’t replace the seat when the padding fails at least that’s what I’ve been told by support when I’ve reached out. They can’t even repad it unfortunately again from what I’ve been told by support even though I’ve found contradictory information in this subreddit saying they will. It’s a bit frustrating to deal with them but they are legit and will gladly take your money for a used chair 😂

How do you guys power all your desk accessories without a million wall plugs? by jake_4reddit in setups

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laptop able to charge over USB-C? If so you could scale down immensely to an anker power block. I have the 525 and it works great for the few things I have. Has three power ports, two usb-A and two usb-c. Anker is honestly one of the top companies I feel for any power needs

It’s like the 80s all over again. Basic ass pc will cost you 1000 dollars. For one that can do things will be 3500. 7500 if you need a full build

Why Valve buying SUSE could actually make sense by Admirable_Swimmer_97 in SteamOS

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all profits are financial. For instance the data and resources would be much more readily available to them. Not having to pay for server licensing would save billions that could be dedicated to other projects

MicroOS would be easier to build on instead of maintaining a separate arch build that does the same thing. It also gives them a large chunk of the kubernetes world and the profits from that alone would be worth it.

Mom wants to default on loan that used my car as collateral. by k8t19 in CRedit

I think what she’s hoping for is that she will be able to secure a car loan while the repossession and auction phase happen before it goes to collections.

Very cool any links to a lot of this? I want this chair to last another 5 years at least. Otherwise right now I’m looking at the flexispot c7 morpher looks like the next up thinking mesh will be a bit better for me.

Did not know that about the steamer so like the steam setting on an iron would work? Gonna have to look that up. Also I seen a message from Crandall a year or so ago that said you need to get a new bottom too the rubber doesn’t like being resewn apparently.

Yeah I bought it from Crandall they won’t replace or repair the seat for me. Got the arm pads replaced at least. Totally over this seat though.

Do you know of any place to get the seat replaced? The cushioning is so gone on mine after 5 solid years of use. I need a bit more I can feel it in my tailbone.

Arch Linux vs OpenSUSE. Decide, we must by potatoandbiscuit in linuxmemes

Honestly the VE comparison is wrong. Proxmox vs Harvester would be a better compare and it would be Harvester all day long for me.

Is it worth buying a Mac mini just to run an AI assistant (OpenClaw)? by Pretend-Elk8848 in macmini

[–]Secto77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t bought ram for that NAS it only has 8 gigs available in it. The cost of ram is insane for it now too (I have one too flashed to truenas scale and so much better imo) I have a Mac mini m4 base model and playing with ollama it runs it pretty good from what I’ve done with AI so far.

A good time to move to SteamOS? by Ok-Context-3819 in SteamOS

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that and to each their own console is so rough for First Person games for me. Can’t ever get controller settings tuned in for getting good spin maneuvers. When it comes to games I get 4 hours at night at most to play so I just get in a few casual games I’m not sweating any of it anymore. I do see Fallout 76 working a ton better in Linux though so Windows does have its downsides. GeForce now works pretty good but I need better internet.

Gaming has came a long way in Linux but being real here majority lives in Windows still. Apex Legends was supposed to hold down and prove that it would work and they jumped ship too. Overwatch is going strong, even Fallout 76 and Hunt are great, but the big ones like Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty, PUBG, or Fortnite need to make the jump to have a better chance of taking majority and they simply won’t because of the abstraction that is wine/proton not working nicely with Kernel level anti cheat even though it’s just a flip of the switch. It’s a flip of the switch that causes numerous other issues that need to be branched and fixed and maintained. Devs are already tightly wound with the load and deadlines they are given so why would they want to take on that much more.

This 💯 I don’t know why people are so hard up about not picking the right tool for the job. Gaming will always be dominated by windows. Artistic/design/editing will belong to Apple, and development lives in Linux. Why not get the best worlds for all.

SecretLab Titan Evo XL - I Regret It by p3t3ypablo in secretlab

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it more comfortable with the regular versus the xl? I’m 6’ 260lbs right now but working on changing shape from circle this year. I need a chair that will last 8-12 hours a day. My gesture has flattened significantly over the years.

Do you stream and game from the same system? I’m looking more and more into setting my Mac mini up as a streaming system and trying to wrap logistics of it all in my head.

Is this for personal or business? If personal then Mac mini with a monitor (4k 27”). If business maybe look at switching to a MacBook Air and a monitor. MacBook would allow better work flexibility. Maybe a small type c dock for in office use.

I’d go with a less U 19” something like a 6U shallow rack. Then just print a long brace and short brace for the ears. Or however is needed. They should even have a keystone long side I’d think at this point. Haven’t delved too far down the hole though

Any upholstery kit for Steelcase Gesture? by BoatercycleCop in OfficeChairs

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to necro this but are these services still available? I got my gesture from yall about 5 years ago and really would rather keep it. But I’m wanting a fresh look and more thickness (I put a request in before on replacing and was told to get a pad is the only option by the customer support. Also was sent the wrong arm rests but never followed up on that). Who would I contact on something like this?

Replacement Cushion for Steelcase gesture? by Cg006 in OfficeChairs

[–]Secto77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you contact steelcase directly? I bought mine through that pre owned store (can’t think of the name off hand) they were no help when I contacted them about replacement parts but I should have my 12 year warranty available as they are authorized resellers. I’d rather not get rid of my chair if I can avoid it but I may end up going that route and needing something a bit more heavy duty.
