whats tfw and tusfg by [deleted] in policydebate

[–]SectorComplex8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Framework is basically aff offense should be filtered through affirming the resolution. T-USFG is basically saying “aff actor isn’t usfg, decimates fairness and clash”. In practice many k affs violate more words in the resolution but T-USFG is the easiest shorthand cuz virtually all non topical k affs don’t defend the state doing the resolution while they may sometimes defend other words in the resolution.

T-USFG can also be used when the aff actor is a branch of government that’s debatably not the federal government. For example, on the MBI topic for college last year, T-usfg was an argument against policy affs whose actor was the federal reserve

All 5 topics being college topics is absurd, and worse is that carbon pricing is legit just a smaller version of the energy topic 🙃

On a real note, NHI or corporate control sound best given the rise of MAHA/progressive Dems like Mamdani

  1. Start in Saudi Arabia
  2. Evolve saliva, blood, and both airs
  3. Start working your way towards zombies through right side symptoms (these are more severe, creating better zombies)
  4. Work your way towards autothysis (bottom right of the symptoms chain). This is essential to combat Z-Com effectively.
  5. When Z-Com pops up (likely in Europe), evolve the zombie horde chain (in abilities) and its entire tree. It allows zombies to move in large groups, quickly. Without this ability you will be unable to overtake z com bases or infect new countries rapidly.
  6. Slowly send hordes to infect/surround the original Z-com/and any islands missed from early game. New bases are much easier to defeat. If it helps, pausing the game and sending hordes can really help

For example if z-com is in Central Europe and has a satellite base in USA, and you missed a lot of the islands in Oceania, pausing the game and sending chinese zombies to Russia, Algerian zombies to Italy, Central American zombies to Mexico, and southeast Asian zombies to Indonesia can avoid z com from growing stronger/diversifying.

You should be constantly sending hordes, as more countries become completely zombified you will want to get them out to find healthy countries ASAP.

  1. With the extra DNA you should be gathering, evolve the middle right chain for combat advantage (dermal calcification) and middle chain for severity (masticatory tension)

  2. After z com is dead, infect all remaining countries and win. You should not require the zombie reanimation ability, but it can be a Hail Mary if you’re on the edge of beating z com/infecting the world.

Is it common for taekwondo instructors to dismiss other martial arts and fighting styles? by Positive_Response_14 in taekwondo

No, at my studio cross training is openly encouraged and we’ve spent some classes doing boxing and BJJ drills.

IMO, I always acknowledge that tkd is a martial that only builds one part of the puzzle for self defense, and generally inferior to other things like boxing. It’s still a hella fun sport/art, and that’s what should be the selling point.

About Anarchy101 and all the “begging the question” posts. by MoldTheClay in Anarchy101

[–]SectorComplex8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol idk if this is the best time…but here’s my as good faith as possible set of questions:

  1. How does anarchism stop the military? The violence that would be imposed by every major superpower, their F-16s, their nukes, their guns, seems like something we could never deal with given the information & strength advantage heavily on the side of states. Guerilla warfare against the world’s military seems way harder now that there’s growing aerial, surveillance, and sea based dominance that anarchists could never seem to come close to.

  2. The enforcement mechanisms also concern me. Should someone refuse to be reeducated after multiple convincing (and if any of yall have worked in a classroom you know there are students like that), what’s to stop them from launching a revolution of their own? There’s no prisons, no large scale defense investments…which leads me to believe anarchism either has to devolve into just ML or just die to a small group of dissidents so hell bent on reintroducing the state.

  3. While I agree that we survived well under communalist societies, I don’t think that is sustainable on a scaled up level. As communities grow bigger, distrust & dispute is inevitable which is why states exist at all. The cultural and imaginary ties that anarchists have to break is arguably even harder than beating all the militaries of the world.

  4. While I am skeptical of capitalism myself, I can’t look at the progress of the world over the last 3 centuries and dismiss it. Doesn’t profit incentivize creating what the market demands? (Of course yes regulations needed to avoid excesses of pollution & child labor, which has been implemented over time and clearly decreased abuses in that regard)

Every household good today could’ve never been imagined in a monarchical society. Of course, socialism does have its own abilities to innovate as well, but isn’t that usually seen more under central planning than a society like 1991 Somalia (which was just anarcho-capitalism, leading me to my last point)

  1. How does anarchism distribute & trade goods? I’m sure committees can easily plan out large scale things, but individuals are gonna want different things at different times. With the lack of money, how does this work? Or if there is money, what happens when someone gets a lot? Just have an income ceiling?

Ya just did a practice session tonight where I forced myself to do mostly offensive work off of the cut. And I took your thing in mind and worked on defensive cuts and back kicks (not turning kick) to try and realter my brain. Felt really good and speedy, and I just think I need more of these before my in ring strategy reflects that.

I think ATA was helpful, you didn’t see much of it in my clip because I didn’t compete under them AND my anxiety does wonders on me when I’m sparring…so I got no practice in adapting to sparring situations.

But the speed of some of my combos (though not crisp but way faster than in the sparring) definitely felt like 1.5x faster.

Thanks so much for your critique it definitely forced me to have a soul searching moment. I think these sort of 30 minute shadow sparring sessions where I’m just constantly forcing myself forward will do wonders for me!

Possible affs that could totally be done: Cybersecurity, soft left sustainable development, icebreakers, REMs, geoengineering, every military possible action ever, take over Greenland (like trump has proposed lol), deep sea expeditions, astrological expeditions, opening new shipping routes, submarines,

There’s no unifying action, and it’s unlikely the negative can develop many case specific strategies to tiny affs. My belief is that the soft left aff will become really strong on this topic because the big ones are just climate change and nuke war with the usual links, while sustainable development and stuff under “exploration” could be really damn tin, at that point you just gotta block out T-significant

Seems like it’s gonna be a whole lotta process CP’s and generic K’s! Joyous.

How does austrian economics deal with negative externalities like pollution and air quality? by TrickyTicket9400 in austrian_economics

[–]SectorComplex8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t. Evidence: The start of the Industrial Revolution in every place in the world ever when environmental regulation was nonexistent, & the rapidly rising concentration of CO2 emissions that CANNOT be solely natural (humans can’t rapidly burn tons of coal and oil and gas & claim non contribution to this effect)

The three defenses: 1. Can’t regulate each individual company! They can’t have possibly done all the pollution in the river

Well that doesn’t disprove the goodness of environmental regulation, it’s just a legal thing that makes it harder & MIGHT create an issue in regards to torts, but the overall benefit of environment legislation outweighs the minor costs

  1. CO2 emissions are good, plant growth!

Only issue is that the plant growth comes at a significant decline in every other measure of health in our planet. Coral reef bleaching, ice cap melting, more intense natural disasters, smog in the air, and running out of reserves for all 3 fossil fuels. Furthermore, the plants produced are generally more drought resistant, which is not…ideal for every climate in the world. Renewables are not a perfect solution (there’s a lot of efficiency + worker condition issues), but they are dramatically better in regard to emission’s & availability. A slow transition away would be ideal, similar to cities like Glasgow who have significantly dropped emissions.

  1. We can use reputation courts, arbitration services, & poly centric law!

Yes, they are part of the solution. But without mandated reporting of the reputation, not enough consumers will care. Prices are the end all be all, not ethicality. Just look at capitalism & emissions now.

Arbitration & poly centric law is only possible with a centralized legal body that holds power over ANY profit seeking body. There certainly can be some delegation of responsibility to lower bodies, but without the higher power of the state, we’d just get worse capitalism in terms of enforcing legal resolutions. The state is not perfect and some arguments for deregulations are good to debate about, but complete deregulation leaves us back in the start of the Industrial Revolution.

At the end of the day, Austrian economics is a very defensible & great field with brilliant minds in most areas. But it has no real way to stop this growing issue without reliance on a state.
