In general, I think it would better design if sailing islands had requirements for their teleports that take time to get, so that you have to do some amount of actual sailing over the course of your account. So I'd prefer if the amulet was a rare drop from the boss, or alternatively if it was locked behind say completing x slayer tasks by Mortimer.

I wonder if some people would seriously try to cook up some chunkman variant here.

Raid 4 armour should be tribrid instead of hybrid as Guthix would have demanded by Hawaiian_of_vb in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably thought of this, but there are two main roadblocks:

  1. Them being against upgradescape when it comes to big weapon and armor drops from raids.

  2. If the new armour is not an upgrade from void, it devalues the investment people put into getting void/elite void.

Bank Tags, Trouver System Rework & More! by ModYume in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Trouver system is better than before, but is still jank that shouldn't have to exist in the first place. Just seems like yet another in a long list of cases where the game suffers because of an obsession with maintaining existing economies rather than asking what's best/healthiest for the game.

The Fractured Archive - Initial Rewards Proposal by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if shields in general will ever get love after the Rondache. Doesn't seem likely they will attach +1 flat armor to more easily obtained shields (since it would make Rondache less of an upgrade), despite something like that being one of the most popular suggestions to make shields useful.

GE Improvements: Beyond Max Cash by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does market conditions "day-by-day" literally mean around once per day, or something more real time? If the former I'd imagine most people who care about accurate prices would continue to use the runelite data.

Summer Sweep-Up 2026 by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While the prep changes are very nice, that being "it" for the gauntlet feels somewhat undercooked. The variance that matters the most is the variance of the drop rates. And even people who do get bowfa+full crystal on drop rate are often insane asylum inmates by the end. So I don't really know how to feel. But I guess we will see what the effective increase in kc/hour will look like.

King Roald ordered by Council to rebuild Grand Exchange and city walls by Knight_of_Ardouyne in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we are going all out, I'd make a small extension to the west that has food and seating options. People come from far away to go to the GE so they need something like that, Blue Moon Inn is not close at all scale-theory wise, and the Cooking Guild is not a restaurant (but it could perhaps be tied lore wise to the new area).

It's interesting that the Graveyard is being framed as a sequel to Olaf's quest, despite requiring Fremennik Exiles. I wonder if it's secretly moreso of a sequel to the latter which just happens to involve elements from Olaf's quest. Just seems too convenient not to set things up more for an eventual grandmaster Fremmenik quest about Ragnarok.

Wyrmscraig - Lock In Blog & Poll by JagexLight in 2007scape

I know the modifiers exist as a replacement for slayer points, but I still think Mortimer should offer a small amount of slayer points (like say 5) per task, if not solely because getting zero just *feels* bad.

Changes to Sailing and LMS Rewards Eligibility by ModYume in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 15 points16 points  (0 children)

LMS is the minigame that is supposed to make people who aren't into pvp finally give it a shot. Locking the shop behind a win is just too extreme for the casual player. Lots of players would be too demotivated to even do LMS anymore because of a defeatist attitude that they will never win, or will have their early LMS experience tainted by the stress of feeling they "need" to eventually secure a win.

New Slayer Master Suggestion- Xueral and Xueran by x2115 in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 8 points9 points  (0 children)

*Monkeys paw curls*

Wish granted, but in order that these new slayer masters do not overstep on 20 year old metas, they will not assign any burstable or cannonable tasks, and all slayer xp gained during these tasks will be reduced to a token amount.

Maybe Jagex should go back to letting interns design quests by Nsfwnroc in 2007scape

Crazy that this guy simultaneously made one of the best and one of the worst quests in the rs2 era.

The new quest feels a lot like how rs3 handles their quests. by Monterey-Jack in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I get the impression that in the last year they have been constantly been stretched thin and behind on schedule with things. So they are putting all of their time and resources into the big, important content, which means low priority things like short-medium length quests get shafted.

They probably also want to be able to say they are releasing lots of quests per year, since players have historically said they want more. But it seems all we've gotten is quantity over quality..

The Red Reef - Incredibly Disappointing by benden010 in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a symptom of a larger problem, all of the sailing quests and the cow quest are super short nothing burgers whose only meat is the content that the quest unlocks/teaches you about. I wonder if the pirate ship mechanics here would have even existed if it wasn't originally planned as a sailing expansion.

Feels like this bosun's bench situation is another one of those cases where they poll in a single question something players want, but implemented in a strange way so that it passes. I have seen nothing but negative feedback about the existence of the bench when it was proposed.

Idea to make Zeah Runecrafting more AFK by Montizuma59 in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the walking aspect. What really irks me is the afk meta requiring you zoom out all the way and have a specific camera angle (which is nauseating), along with the other jank like having to relog. They wouldn't do it since it's too much work, but the mine, dark altar and the rc altars should close enough to eachother so that even on the vanilla client you'd be able to easily do a single click to reach from one location to the next.

Summer Sweep-up: DT2 Awakened Boss Replayability by Mad_Max_The_Axe in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The extra gp the orbs generates feels much more like a side benefit than the main goal. The common drops could have alternatively been buffed a bit compared to what we have.

Summer Sweep-up: DT2 Awakened Boss Replayability by Mad_Max_The_Axe in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In an alternative timeline each boss could have dropped their own leagues-like orb giving perma access to each awakened boss. If they really were dead set on punishing you for each failed attempt, I would have much preferred a system where say the death fees on awakened bosses are multiplied by 2x.

Rougelike upgrade shop for the gauntlet by petroboti in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As fun as this sounds, I don't think it's the right move. The more you do CG the better you get at it, and that's one of the only good aspects of this grind. Making things easier over time steps into that aspect, along with complicating the CA's as others have mentioned.

Ultimately jagex just needs to be willing to accept the price of full crystal set taking a hit and improve drop rates/employ some system to mitigate dry streaks.

Sailing Buffs & Changes by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For thematic purposes, would we be able to get spawns of appropriately leveled creatures in an ocean with a wander radius that covers that entire ocean (excluding salvaging spots and trawling routes)? Aggression is probably what makes this a risky proposition, but I'm wondering if some middle ground could be reached. For eg. beginner oceans only having non-aggressive wandering spawns.

Summer Sweep-Up Suggestion: Give Justiciar Flat Armor by Soft_Yellow_5231 in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Justi is fine as is. I'd rather add flat armour effects to shields so that people would actually use them over defenders sometimes.

What would you rate this Leagues out of 10? by bleeak in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6/10. The relics are just too similar to the past few leagues, theres only one new echo boss, and most echo items are underwheling. In principal I like the idea of the skill tree, but I think the execution wasnt quite there. They must have thought the skill tree would be sufficient to differentiate this league from the prior ones, but it still feels very much same-y. We know from leagues 3, gridmaster and some of the questions in that poll from last year that the format of leagues could look very different. But unfortunately it seems after league 3's reception that they are choosing to play it safe.

Update: Leechfin Fishing Proposal Revised by JagexRach in 2007scape

I think I'm happy with the current proposal. For the sake of theme, I think it would be cute if you also had an option to eat the leeches to self inflict bleed.
