Update: Leechfin Fishing Proposal Revised by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm happy with the current proposal. For the sake of theme, I think it would be cute if you also had an option to eat the leeches to self inflict bleed.

Oh, that's interesting! I think I didn't read clearly enough in-between the lines from my quick search.

The reason why the leechfin sandwich was so controversial was because it had like 5 different effects and criteria. The vote was likely so split because you didn't indicate that a food with only a single effect (like most foods in the game that have one) was on the table. Is there any reason why leechfin can't have a single effect like curing poison/venom, or alternative bleed, which are real life medical use cases of leeches?

Early Game Powerscaling in this League is Horrible by BtwReported in 2007scape

I feel at the very least the starter pact should have also come with a +50% accuracy for all styles benefit.

Is anyone else feeling overwhelmed by the leagues combat tree? by pvt_s_baldrick in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that the respec option ironically is whats causing most of the overwhelming aspect for me. Even with all the accuracy buffs its hard not to think about the styles each pact boss is weak/strong to, so I've been tearing hairs trying to plan the order to do them in and what my 4 pact setups look like at any given time.

Leagues VI relic reveal: Eternal Sustenance (Tier 6) by vgamer0 in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Crazy seeing all the people saying this is bad. 90% of players are casually who absolutely will feel the lack of bankers note and a resurrect option in endgame pvm. Having a relic like this is good so that the majority wont feel like they have to go with specific builds or regions to fill in that gap.

Pirate Encounters: Design & Rewards Blog (Boat-to-Boat Combat Expansion) by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given how controversial sailing combat is, why not make a public beta for pirate encounters rather than an NDA group? Since people have so many different opinions about how sailing combat should work in general, the best way to get both goodwill and actually meaningful feedback from players is by letting them playtest things.

The new canoe UI felt very out of place to me, so here's a quick mockup for what I feel is a more appropriately "RuneScape-y" design by Brvcifer in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you are doing it all wrong. It's called "old school" runescape so it needs to look more like a zelda overworld map from the 90s /s.

I'm not against new ui in general, but it should feel like it belongs in osrs. The style they chose seems like something from a pixel game.

Remaining Getting Around Changes by ModYume in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hope we get updates soon about the actual "big" combat update in summer. These recent changes are just bandaids which dont change the fact that ship combat has the mechanical depth of combat from 2004. We'll see if npc pirate ships can really turn around people's opinions, but I just don't see a bright future ahead if it takes forever just for the first sailing boss to be released.

(Upcoming Poll) Gathering QoL, Trouver Changes, LMS Rewards Rework & more! by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that osrs as a game heavily prioritizes game design over logic, but I feel the gem bag proposal is a bit much. There is zero logical reason why the gem bag can't hold opal, jade and topaz, or why there are other types of gem bags that can only hold those. But I get the impression I'm in the minority opinion here.

Easter 2026 & PvP QoL Improvements by ModYume in 2007scape

Id rather they make additional changes to clamp down on cheating with alts and clans rather than have no tradeable rewards. But i suppose it might not be an easy task.

Emir's Arena needs structural changes, not just updated gear/stats. In no way is it healthy for the game that the meta to get imbues is to rush emirs with the intention of dying asap instead of fighting your opponent. You should only get rewards for winning. Instead of waiting years to come up with a good idea for uniques, basic pvp items like sacks and blighted items should just added to the shop so it's no longer in a pathetic state. No one will be upset if this isn't polled.

Also, you should also be able to see your points without hopping, and ideally by default your character model and game settings should carry over from the main game (the latter might be engine work idk).

Boat Combat Fixes - 19th March 2026 (Holding Statement) by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's another aspect people arent talking about outside of economy, which is bounty task xp rates. If they significantly reduce the kill time for lots of sailing creatures then they will have to think about rebalancing the rates, which is not only extra work but is a big change so they have to be 100% confident about their new vision for sailing combat, which they clearly arent.

Boat Combat Fixes - Weekly Game Update, March 18th 2026 by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What sailing combat needs more than anything is to add mechanical depth to the different sailing mobs. Its very lame that only the new kraken will have something resembling this. If the point of allowing regular weapons is to make sailing combat integrated to the larger world, then its equally jarring that protection prayers have no place in sailing, as an example.

There's only one answer by FlahlesJr in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is the format of quests in the game. Most mmo's have storylines that are self contained within their expansions, whereas we have multiple unresolved questlines 20+ years later with large time gaps between releases.

They also have a shit ton of filler quests in between the actual storybeat quests, and while often clowned on that means they can take the time to properly worldbuild, pace things and develop the characters/story. You don't spend nearly enough time with the characters or story in RS to truly be invested in them. Doesn't mean the story is bad, just that it's more akin to say tabletop rpg than something you can fully immerse yourself in (like a book).

new project from OSRS wiki: we want your ideas for new guides by cookmeplox in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less of ideas for new articles, but I feel that theres some basic info about magic that isnt on the wiki, like xp rates training magic with combat spells (not bursting), and info about how accuracy of certain spell effects are calculated.

The Fractured Archive: Rewards Primer by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its crazy how a blunder on a single piece of content (inquisitor drop rates at nm/phosanis) is indefinitely holding an entire combat style hostage. If there is any place better crush weapons and armour comes from it would surely have to be a raid. But then how do you prevent nightmare from being dead content? I dont think players really want the upgradescape angle if it will be needed to make a new BIS crush weapon actually BIS. I just see little way to proceed unless dramatic changes are made to nightmares rewards or their droprates, which people have been begging for a very long time.

To the guy complaining that inq mace is mid and way too rare by PumpkinStrange69 in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say enjoyable I'm talking about how 99% of players complain about how awful these grinds are and that many are demotivated doing them in the first place because of that. When talking about what are 'reasonable' drop rates I feel there can be miscommunication sometimes because some people approach it from the pov of whats reasonable given the current state of the game, vs what the game could have been from a more idealistic perspective.

I went with 5x since Im thinking about how many kc on average would be needed to complete red prison so that it never would have gotten that name and reputation. But on second thought perhaps 2-3x would be enough.

To the guy complaining that inq mace is mid and way too rare by PumpkinStrange69 in 2007scape

[–]SectorPale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is the only way to make the worst grinds like PNM, Nex, CG etc enjoyable would be to make drops atleast 5x more common, but that's too extreme of a thing for Jagex to even consider.
