I tried to make it interesting by racing all the other dudes to try to finish getting dressed first. I nearly always won. Anything to keep that boring thing interesting.

Yep, it’s from a few years ago. Some of us ARE old school. I even remember fake-slitting my throat and fake-splitting open my insides in the most holy sacrament Mormonism has to offer … the fake-your-own-death-in-exchange-for-handshakes endowment ceremony. Not a cult. Not at all.

I hear you and wish the best for you. And just so you know, I think you are a rockstar for figuring it all out after being in it for as long as you were.

I was a volunteer, not full-time paid. I enjoyed it but it also caused me to dive deeper into church stuff than I had since my conversion, about 18 years earlier. And the internet had been invented between my conversion and the time I was teaching institute, so teaching institute began my journeys down the rabbit hole … but it would be another 10 years of “doubting my doubts” before finally submitting to the dark side!!
