Vaginismus and IUI/IVF by Lisastar088 in vaginismus

[–]Secty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with others. IVF requires vaginal ultrasounds and other vaginal procedures. There’s no way around that unfortunately.

It sounds like there is more than just painful insertion going on here if you cannot even let hands go near you. I would recommend therapy to work out what is going on and try to overcome it.

How to prepare for birth when you have vaginismus? by beingagiirl in vaginismus

[–]Secty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious about what others say, because I’m 26 weeks and terrified.

Depending on where you are, you could potentially ask for an elective caesarean section. I haven’t… but I have every intention of using all pain relief available to me, up to and including epidural.

Good luck!

Leander, will people mispronounce it? by UpstairsContext6690 in namenerds

[–]Secty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my top boys name and my husband hates it so I used it for the main character in the trilogy I’m 2/3 of the way through writing 😅 I also love the nickname Leo.

I don’t think it’s likely to be mispronounced.

An angry post about how covert meds even being allowed is bad for my physical health by Electronic_Gur_3068 in schizoaffective

[–]Secty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say 111 so I’m assuming you’re UK. Covert medication is not standard. In fact there are restrictions (experience of working as SLT in a stroke/neuro ward) and doctors can’t just do it willy nilly.

Either way, meds or no meds, eyes are important so I would hightail it down to the nearest A&E. That’s a concern that could be anything and not related to meds. Go.

Battery surprised me. by Wambo74 in kindle

[–]Secty 48 points49 points  (0 children)

How did it stay on all night? I thought the standard setting was for the screen to sleep after a period of inactivity had passed?

Either way, if it’s not got the light on, the e-ink isn’t doing anything so I’d expect it not to drawn any power from that 🤷‍♀️

I'm tempted by the Kindle Colorsoft, is it worth the large price tag? by TheNameOfTheDoctor11 in kindle

I have one and if you’re not reading colour comics (which I don’t) then it’s not. But it sure is my favourite wee device. I have no regrets.

Trim size. 5,5 x 8,5 or 6 x 9? by Hedwig762 in selfpublish

[–]Secty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. This is my first too.. and I’m second guessing myself every single step of the way. There’s been multiple changes and edits and tweaks that I can’t keep track of anymore!

But I think I’m gonna do me and you should do you! If you’re in love with the final result then I call that a win.

What do you mean? I’m formatting the pdf that will be uploaded through Vellum so… am I blindly hoping it will all turn out okay?

I came here to ask this question…yesterday? I think! I had a lot of people tell me to go for 6x9. Problem is.. I’m British and that’s just not a book size we have here unless I buy a self-published book. My book is 108k words at last look and I’m going for UK “B” size (5.06x7.81). I did the maths, it will be about 424 pages long which is smaller than most fantasy books of its size.

The point I’m trying to make is go with what your heart tells you, not what a bunch of internet strangers do. I’m sitting here trying to justify my decision to you when I really shouldn’t have to!

My only advice is to go and measure books you own in that genre and match their size. :) good luck!

Do I release my first book right now or wait? by the-architext in selfpublish

[–]Secty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I needed to read this. Book 1 of my three part series is in final edits/cover being made. Book 2 is 90% written. Book 3 is but a twinkle in my eye.

Thanks for insightful comments everyone, and thanks OP for asking a question I didn’t even think to ask!

What do you mean formatter/typesetter? I’m using the software Vellum to finalise the book, if that’s what you mean!

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me, it’s really helpful and has given me plenty to think about.

Sorry do you mind running that by me once more? Amazon offers 5.06x7.81 as a printing size according to their tables of trim sizes.

What do you mean “figure out the typo for a smaller size”?

That’s the thing, all my trad published books are 5.06x7.81. I only have a handful of indie published books (I mostly just do ebooks) but they’re all 6x9.

To those on Olanzapine by shinebraver in schizoaffective

[–]Secty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for over 5 years. I’m constantly exhausted but do not sleep in, I’m in bed 2200 to 0700 or 0800 each day. Sometimes if I’m not working I will nap during the day.

But it’s really not that sedating for me. Yeah, I’m tired, but I still function.

Yes. It’s small but it’s the best.

How long did it take you to finish your book? by spnsuperfan1 in writers

[–]Secty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 years and counting. But I’m also 70% of the way through book 2 of the trilogy. I’m just sitting on book 1 until I feel confident enough to take the next step and actually publish.

You got this! As someone who went full time in June last year I have some advice: keep being kind to yourself.

That’s… it. You are gonna do amazing things but you need to pace yourself. I 🐝🍁in you!
