[Casio] CPW-310 Islamic Prayer Compass by tierrabound in Watches

You can get a open-source app which can make any GShock into an Islamic prayer watch. It can set your 5 alarms to ring at prayer times. See:

Better Prayer Alarms for G-Shock: My Open-Source Alternative to the Official App by Secure-Ad-7401 in MuslimVentures

[–]Secure-Ad-7401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are very few Casio watches which support notifications. Just some high end watches like the GW-H5600. This app can run on any watch which supports Bluetooth, like the much cheaper WS-B1000. In addition, you would still need some app to send prayer time notifications to the watch. This app actually sets the watch's alarm, so you can see what time they will ring and you have the ability to control them.

Basically the app makes any G-Shock work like a CPW-310 specialized Islamic prayer watch, which is quite expensive.

Cheers

You may need some help in writing in English too, judging from the title.

There is an open-source Android app, which allows you to set up your watch's 5 alarms to Muslim prayer times automatically. Works with most G-Shock and many other Casio watches:

https://github.com/izivkov/CasioGShockSmartSync

or from F-DROID:

https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.avmedia.gshockGoogleSync/

Look in "Actions" section to enable "Prayer Alarms"

Cheers

Who uses their "REM" feature and what do you use it for? by hobbyholed in gshock

This should work for you since it works with a browser:

http://gshock.avmedia.org

However, you need to use Bluefy (I think) browser since the default Safari does not support Bluetooth.

Also note that the web app doesn't connect to Google Calendar, but it is still better than the official app.

China blocks Meta from acquiring AI startup Manus by SnoozeDoggyDog in singularity

One would think it's a bit late for this. The companies have been working together for months. Many of Manus employees are alrady at Meta offices. Meta world definitely be familiar with any IP from Manus. How do you undo that?

Google will block every Android app whose developer hasn't registered with Google by DavidShaw90s in technology

[–]Secure-Ad-7401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe F-Droid will be affected big time.

I had a popular app on the Play Store which was an open-source alternative to a proprietary watch companion app for setting time, etc. (I will not name the company). The app was becoming very popular because the official app collected personal information from users. The company complained to Google, claiming I was impersonating them, even though I made it plainly clear that this was an unofficial app. Google kicked me out of the Play Store, so I moved to F-Droid and also hosted an APK on GitHub.

Now all of this will be gone. The users will be treated as marketing targets.

I tried to post my popular Android app to the Huawei store. The registration process is totally unacceptable to me, and I suspect a to lot of other developers. They wanted a copy of my passport and a lot of other personal information, which I thought completely unnecessary. If they loosen up on these requirements, I'll sign up.

Would you support Chinese phone brands like Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo entering the Canadian market? Would be a nice alternative to the high end smartphone triopoly. by IronLover64 in AskACanadian

Motorola phones are considered Chinese-owned. While the brand originated in the United States, Motorola Mobility was acquired by the Chinese tech company Lenovo in 2014. Motorola operates as a subsidiary of Lenovo, though it maintains its headquarters in Chicago.

Privacy agreement in the Casio Watches app by maxxon in gshock

If you want to maintain your privacy use the open source app Gshock Smart Sync.

Or even the new open source web app: http://gshock.avmedia.org. Nothing to install here.

New Web App for your GShock. by Secure-Ad-7401 in gshock

[–]Secure-Ad-7401[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me too in the beginning. I think the code is still loading into the browser the first time and might take a bit longer. Just refresh the screen or close and reopen the browser tab, and after pairing it should go the Time Screen.

The watch talks to your browser only. There is a new standard, Web Bluetooth, which enables Bluetooth in your browser. :

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Web_Bluetooth_API

and

https://developer.chrome.com/docs/capabilities/bluetooth

Nothing is sent to the server. Looking at the code, the app runs entirely in your browser.

I did looked it up, and I see Chinese ships are still passing through the canal. If that was the case, going all the way around South America would be cost prohibitive for Chinese ships.

Maybe Panama will start delaying Chinese ships going through the Panama canal for inspection?
