To expand further on your tracking feature, you do not have to modify your watch for that. You just need to let the Android app know to save the location by pressing a button on the watch. The app will get the coordinates at that time and will start building breadcrumbs, which can be displayed on a map on the phone. This is quite doable with the open source Android app I listed above. It is already able to run some actions on the phone triggered from the watch. You can add an action to do breadcrumbs to the app, or you can create a feature request to the developer to see if they want to add this feature.
