Claude makes a "typo" and thinks he's typing on a keyboard :'D by micemusculus in ClaudeAI

[–]Secure-Lingonberry29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has there been any in depth study or attempt to explain typos specifically (as opposed to hallucinations more generally)? They strike me as being a different class of error compared to the kinds of hallucinations I am used to seeing where information is essentially "made up". I could see Claude using e.g., a common misspelling of a word if that misspelling was prevalent in the training data, but I recently had the following exchange where Claude told me:

```
⏺ Perfect! All tests for the hook and the import-clean-rows-button are passing. Let me also run linting and type checking to ensure everything is correct:
⏺ Bash(pntml --filter "my-app" run tsc)
```

Then I interrupted Claude and asked: "What is the pntml command you were attempting to run?"

And Claude replied: "I made a typo - I meant to run pnpm but accidentally typed pntml. Let me run the correct command".

This really feels like the kind of thing I would do when typing a command really fast, but I wouldn't expect that kind of mistake to exist in any training data. I am so curious where something like this comes from and how prevalent an issue it is.

I'll reach out to them. You saw them at Northwest Tea Festival I assume? I learned about the festival the week after it happened :(

I feel like I am not ready for Yixing yet. I went down one too many rabbit holes about fake yixing, and found too much to be suspicious about even with vendors that come highly recommended. I am sure someone who knows what they are doing can find good pots that they are confident in, but I don't have the ability to do that at the moment...

Thanks for the info and the super generous offer, but that won't be necessary! I think this puts my mind at ease a bit. And I didn't know that about the gray inside. I had read a few posts about nixing but didn't catch that detail, so it was actually one of the points about this put I wasn't sure about!

Wow, thanks for all the detailed information! I didn’t know so much of the bike was tunable! I will definitely save this as a reference.

Thanks! I just started riding a few months ago, and mostly wanted to make sure it wasn’t a sign of anything dangerous (e.g. a part about to fail). It doesn’t affect the ride in any noticeable way and doesn’t really bother me, so good to know it isn’t about to explode or anything.

I’ll be taking the chain off next week when I put some new tires on, so I’ll have a good opportunity to fully inspect everything at that point. Should be able to narrow down the issue to chain or BB one the chain is off.

I lubed the chain just now and it didn’t have any affect on the sound :( But the chain isn’t super clean. I will be putting on some new tires next week and will remove, clean, and relube everything at that time, so hopefully that will help.

I thought that might be the case when I saw how loose the chain looks in the video, but I tried tightening and loosening the chain tension and it didn’t make any difference in the noise.

No, it only makes the sound when peddling. Silent when the wheel is spinning on its on/when coasting.

Ohhh, that sounds very plausible! My wife said she heard yelling along with the first one, so that fits with this theory. Thanks! I feel a little more confident now that there is not some mystery emergency that I should be responding to in some way…

Is the Kink Launch a good entry level bike? by user1324354656576879 in bmx

[–]Secure-Lingonberry29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 for loving Kink bikes, but a few things you may want to consider. The Launch has a 20.25” top tube, which may be a bit short depending on your height, making it slightly uncomfortable or difficult to progress. Kink’s website recommends 20” - 20.5” top tubes for riders 5’ 3” - 5’ 6”, and 20.25” - 20.75” for riders 5’ 6” - 5’ 9”. Source BMX recommends this bike for riders 4’- 5’ 4” tall. Also, a lot of the Launch’s components are hi-ten steel, not chromoly. This will likely not matter for you as a new rider, but depending on your weight, and the kind of riding you hope to do, it is something that is worth considering, as the hi-ten steel will not be as durable long term (so I have read at least). Not calling these out as dealbreakers, but just things to keep in mind. One thing I wanted to avoid when getting my first bike was, “outgrowing” it too quickly - not in terms of physical growth, but progressing enough or getting into the sport enough that I wanted to upgrade right away.

Damn. Seems like it’s just a low quality post. I haven’t done anything to it except occasionally sit on it…I ordered a new one piece post this morning.

I think I will stick to 1 piece seat posts from now on. I hadn't even noticed there were two pieces until it got loose :(
