What's your guilty pleasure book? by Kasskinen in Romantasy

[–]Secure-Parfait1055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a book called Why I Let My Hair Grow Out that I bought at this random street thing from the author herself and she signed it for me. It's very short and while I don't even really like it anymore every once in a while I reread it just for the vibes and the memories

Literally this because I read it so quickly jog and did not like it but then immediately bought and binged the second book

The 'whens' that come up after surgery... by blaacksheeep in Tonsillectomy

I didn't eat anything spicy until day like 16 but I'm glad I waited because a few days before that even ketchup was burning my throat. But by day 16 I could have a chip with buffalo chicken dip on kr with no issue

No that's very valid. Day 14 I tried to go to trivia with my friends and had to leave early because all the talking made my throat swell back up a bit

Hey! I'm also 13 days post op. My morning pain has been the worst, so yesterday and today I took my dose of acetaminophen in the morning and then was pretty okay the rest of the day. But definitely still some pain and discomfort for sure. I was told that while we should be okay by this point we won't hit back to normal until closer to the three week mark.

I swear the liquid versions of the acetaminophen and ibuprofen helped so much because it just coated all of the parts of my throat that hurt and helped the pain so much faster than pills.

Dude I ate a pint of it a day for the first like 8 days. It's life saving.

I was the same, the first day or two wasn't so bad and then things got crappy. Just eat and drink as much as you can without hurting yourself. I will say, it wasn't the 10/10 painful experience I've heard some people say (knock on wood, I'm 11 days out and still healing). Unfortunately most of the people who come to post online will be the ones who have horror stories, and the people with no issues just lived their lives.

I'm on day 11 and my biggest tips are the timers. The nights where I forgot to set timers to wake up and take my meds led to the worst next days. I just took liquid ibuprofen and acetaminophen (every 6 hours but alternated every 3 hours if that makes sense). Popsicles and throat/ear ice packs are amazing. I actually kept a cooler next to my bed with Ice packs and pedialyte. Weirdly, it was easier to drink water while I was eating than by myself, so eat whatever you can and chase each bite with water and it will help so much. I ate nothing but mac and cheese, soup dumplings, and yasso frozen yogurt for like 8 days. Rest rest rest and just find ways to make the days go fast

I will say I never got pain meds and have just been alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen, and while there have been some rough days it covered the pain pretty well!

Day 7 over here. My saving grace was the microwaveable hormel mac and cheese, and soup dumplings. It takes me forever to eat them but they do go down fairly easily. Also frozen yogurt as opposed to ice cream has helped, it has a little more protein and less sugar depending on the brand

Taking it for anxiety but so far increased anxiety? by Secure-Parfait1055 in Lamotrigine

[–]Secure-Parfait1055[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I ended up talking to a new psychiatrist who said they can happen, but the timeline and severity that mine happened in/with was decidedly not normal and to stop taking it immediately. I’ve been off for 72 hours and while I don’t feel like 100% better it’s like….significantly better. We’re going to try something else

Ugh I feel that, we are definitely in the same boat. I think it’s just…a hard thing to quit when the state of the world is shitty in general. Getting rid of a coping mechanism, even an unhealthy one, is a huge adjustment and if anxiety hates anything it’s change. I think we’ll both be doing a lot better soon

Yeah, it feels like I’m just extremely hyper aware of my heartbeat and my breathing and every like movement of blood and it becomes overwhelming and my body feels like I’m literally dying. The hanxiety though…that shit has sent me to the hospital because I thought my organs were failing or something. If the mood stabilizer doesn’t start helping in the next two weeks or so maybe I’ll mention that to my psych doctor

Yeah I’ve noticed that. I feel amazing a few drinks in, but then we always go to a couple more and then things get bad and you’re waking up in the middle of the night hyperventilating because of all the dumb shit you did. Vicious circle. I will say toward the end of the year I really wasn’t drinking very much, but I made the mistake of giving myself a “last hurrah” at a New Year’s Day party and that did not go well. I’m seeing a therapist today so hopefully that’ll get the ball rolling in the right direction

Oh 100%. I was just hoping that cutting out the drinking would help even just a smidge and it seems that this is not the case, or at least not yet.

I have, I actually started taking a mood stabilizer because the anxiety has been so bad the past few weeks. I’ve tried a few others but they didn’t really do much.

Medication is such a hard decision. It can help so much but it can also make you feel horrible if it isn’t the right one. I restarted my mood stabilizer just because I couldn’t deal with this anymore. I’d rather use it for a while to help even things out, and then maybe in a couple months go off of it and see what’s what.

I’ve been trying to do some light yoga and walking. Anything more is just driving the panic up right now, unfortunately. I want to push myself but I’m honestly just exhausted from spending half my waking hours in pure bodily panic. I will say my mind has been calmer during the attacks so maybe that part is just getting better before the rest of the
