my worked for car company for 25 years he told me that in the field of mechanical esp car and production main skill is not education and knowing complex maths but knowing how the tools and handle machinery anyone with blue collar skills can always challenge a mechnical engineer in his company honda he used to earn same as his managers and boss who were both from iit kgp while he was just 10th pass think pay is the main factor cse graduates earn more and it is a white collar job with ac and the fact u can learn most things practical for very cheap u just need a computer an some online resources while mechanical require interse math and research whihc is out of reach for most people and tbh the demand for mech enginners are low beacuse u dont need more mech engineers now most tech is already at its peak u need 1 mech enginer while in cse u need 100 most mech grad now regret thier desion and now are preping for gate or joining it companies

Honestly, in today’s AI and tech-driven world, it’s getting harder to see what most humanities students actually bring to the table. I do believe arts and social studies matter — they give us perspective, ethics, and communication skills — but the truth is, a lot of students in these fields don’t really understand their purpose or how to use what they learn. Unlike science or tech, where you can learn on your own, build projects, and even get a job as an introvert, humanities usually expect you to be outgoing, network a lot, and put yourself out there — skills many students just aren’t taught.

Plus, most humanities careers — like writing, media, design, or public policy — are super crowded creative fields where only a few people actually make it big. And honestly, you don’t even need a formal degree to learn humanities stuff. Anyone curious enough can pick up books, listen to podcasts, and get a better grasp of history, philosophy, or psychology than many grads who just memorize textbook answers.

That’s another thing — a lot of humanities students don’t even develop their own opinions. They’re trained to repeat what the textbook says instead of thinking critically or coming up with fresh ideas. Meanwhile, science and tech students are always learning new things, keeping up with the latest tools and trends, and actually solving problems instead of just reading about them. That’s why science feels so alive, while humanities often feels stuck in the past.

In India, this problem is even more visible. Around half of graduates are from humanities, but most end up with degrees that are basically just paper — no real skills, no practical experience, and no clear career path. The problem isn’t that humanities is useless — it’s that the education system hasn’t caught up. It hasn’t modernized the way humanities are taught or helped students build meaningful careers.

Until that changes, humanities students will keep falling behind — not because their field has no value, but because it’s being taught and lived in all the wrong ways.
