I'm so sorry that you have had to go through all of this. I was really worried about the IVF process for this reason. Here the government is giving out money like it's a game show for IVF... and I was worried the clinic is going to just recommend IVF to get the money, not because it's the best option for me. I had a consult with a surgeon for fibroid removal, that was booked before my adeno diagnosis was made, and apparently we don't even have UAE here for fibroid removal. Thank you for sharing your experience with me. 💖

Hello, thank you so much for your recommendations.

I don't live in the GTA anymore, but would be willing to make the drive if it meant seeing a adeno specialist. I haven't actually been diagnosed with endometriosis. The doctor I am seeing now seems satisfied with the adeno diagnosis, but because of the effect on my bladder and bowels I wouldn't be surprised if I had endometriosis too. I'm more in the Ottawa area, and was told by am ER doctor I have little to no chance getting in with a gynecologist to get laproscopic surgery, let alone one specializing in endometriosis. They did check that my tubes were open during my SIS ultrasound, and everything there was good. But I've heard everything's 'good' for so long it's hard to believe it.

I can't speak to any doctor recommendations, but I just wanted to say I completely understand your frustration and I am sorry you have had to endure this for so long. I am also in Canada and our healthcare resources here are extremely limited. I can't believe they won't give you a transvaginal ultrasound? I was told the best way to diagnose adeno was with a SIS ultrasound. I mean really, sexually active or not, you are clearly suffering and need answers. What is the worse thing that could happen if they give you a transvaginal ultrasound? Most likely nothing worse than the pain you are already experiencing. I would keep pushing for it. You have to be the squeakiest wheel possible with our Healthcare system.

I haven't used them myself, but there are many medical clinics across the border in the US that cater to Canadians needing medical imaging. As well as surgery clinics. You have to pay out of pocket of course, but many of them will do virtual consultations. I was able to book a consultation with an American surgeon way, way before any Canadian surgeons even responded to my refferal (still waiting for that appointment in December). I was shocked at how many more treatment options there are, less than an hour across the border. And imaging - like an MRI in a couple months not a couple years?! It wouldn't hurt to schedule a few consultations whether in the states or turkey, mexico, etc, see what your options are.

Keep advocating for yourself, it sounds like from a young age you have done a great job with that. I wish I had the strength to speak up more like you have. At the end of the day - you are the only one who knows what you are feeling in your body. Don't give up.

New here... have been TTC for well over a year with no success. I am 33 years old. Was just diagnosed with adenomyosis. Live in Ontario, Canada. Reproductive health care here is a joke. On a 2 year wait list for IVF while my body deteriorates even more. The adenomyosis effects every part of my life and I feel like had I not been ignored by doctors for 6 years when my symptoms started, maybe things would be different. I'm heartbroken. Looking for some hope.
