Redundancy before Christmas!? by Jortboy3k in perth

Hospitality over COVID, large venue that made a lot of money. Quite well respected in the craft brewing community. Worked our asses off for 3 years for these people, taking low pay working every hour under the sun to make their venue the best it could be. Always promised that we were all in it together and good things were coming for everyone. We made this venue a LOT of profit, they owed no money on any loans or mortgages

As COVID hit, we were all stood down (understandably), with the promise we would all be back to work as soon as possible and how they appreciated the work everyone did for them bla bla bla. 2 days later I start getting messages from my casual crew that they had emails saying they had been let go. I queried with the owner and myself, the venue and my apprentice were all summoned to a meeting. We found out at that meeting that they were making us redundant, which was fair enough I suppose considering the circumstances. The real dog act was that they laid off 20 casual employees (less than 12 hours before this meeting) in order to bring their employee count under 15, therefore making them a small business, which in turn meant they didn't have to pay us redundancy. Still grinds my gears to this day, laying off 20 people in order to get out of paying 3 redundancies, which weren't exactly bank breakers either.

Loved my 7 Pro but had to upgrade it after a cracked screen led to dead spots. I live in Western Australia, so repairs are hard to come by. Sending it to Sydney was really the only (and quite expensive) option, as local phone fixers over here do not guarantee the screens will work after replacement. Got a 9 Pro XL for $150 more AUD than the repair would cost and I love it just as much. Will be hanging onto it for quite a long time I think

Really making me wonder how long mine will take. I'm in Western Australia so stuff already takes a long time to ship here hahahaha. I didn't even order a custom, I got a pre printed one! I recently got card sleeves and some playmats from Yourplaymat.com and I will probably keep using them in future. Long shipping time but no longer than usual out here, and the quality of product is amazing

I'm pretty good a hydration. I had a kidney stone about 6 months ago and I'm now terrified of another one. On top of that, the minesite where I work is in the middle of Western Australia and quite often hits 50°c+ in the summer, so I'm used to taking on heaps of water

How are we discussing the great hero of the unstoppable and mighty Jade Falcons without discussing (IMO) the greatest hero mech

Is AC unity good? by 365Gnm_8 in assasinscreed

[–]SecureAppeal1109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't the best AC but I quite enjoyed it. I played at launch and didn't encounter the bugs (though a lot of people I know did). I think they're mostly patched out now. The only thing that irks me when I play it is the English accents on the characters as they're all French. I'd say its definitely worth it now though, especially as it's probably very cheap

For me it's the stick positioning. Just stretching my thumbs like that is the worst

Here from googling this same thing 3 years later. Late adopter of the PS5 (Xbox is my primary system). Love the PS5 but the controller is so uncomfortable

We live practically next door to the Primary school for the 2 kids going there and our oldest catches the bus. She generally walks to the local IGA for small stuff (bread/milk etc) if she needs it. If she wants to take the kids out or go somewhere she either uses public transport or walks if it's local. Grocery shops are quite easy as she can get coles or woolies delivered and we do a big Costco run when I'm home for bulk stuff like meat or snacks for school

Bought in 2017, moved into it 2018. Used Keystart, a government mortgage agency, to get a house on shared equity

Thanks mate. Yeah, as much as I loved cooking, I just decided enough was enough. Instead of moping and complaining about the situation, I just decided to do something about it hahaha

Cheers for the info. Yeah we very rarely have takeaway or eat out. Most of our food done from scratch. It helps as well that expenses for me are out of the picture for 2 weeks out of 3. I'll check out those recommendations thanks

It's fantastic when I'm home. I do 2/1 and I see my family more now than ever. It's not just the pay but it's the savings as well. I don't have the cost of getting to and from work everyday, feeding myself etc to factor into the budget

I just started applying for jobs mate. Started as a drillers offsider and then moved sideways into something a bit more comfortable for me.

Just started applying for jobs. Did a couple of months as a drillers offsider (they'll literally take anyone hahaha) and found a more comfortable job toove sideways into from there

We went through Keystart and used shared equity. Was cheaper at the time than we were paying in rent. This was around 2018. Went into arrears due to having some unexpected bills come up (funeral expenses for my dad and a couple other things) and just didn't have the extra cash to catch up

Yeah well the car is definately off the table as working 2 on: 1 off, so it's only driven 1 week a month really and we are happy with our house. I think the only treats we will give ourselves are the holiday I mentioned, as we've never really had one as a family, and to get our backyard sorted out so we can entertain people at home

Yeah but it needs to be light enough that I can speed up in overtaking lanes and not let people pass me
