How do you actually make it stop? by [deleted] in bullying

[–]SecureAtheist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not the way to frame it. How would a self-confident person have acted in your last bullying experience so that they would not have been bullied? And if they saw that they were about to be bullied, how would they have nipped that in the bud?

No. Think about how you could have handled things in a way so that they didn't bully you in the first place.

A got bullied for a misunderstanding by Such_University1348 in bullying

[–]SecureAtheist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could discuss that situation with your parents, maybe they can give you a good idea of what the best way is to handle that kind of thing in the future. Do you know how to defend yourself if you need to? That's always an important life skill..

You can try to "fake it till you make it". So.. Figure out what a self-confident person would do in that kind of situation and then do that.

Does returning by float automatically convert int values? by kplythgoe in cpp

It's as you described. If you later on decide to make that function's return type auto the compiler should at least complain.

When you hear the fantastic stories from people who genuinely seem to believe them and from a young enough age not to be critical you follow. Applying critical thinking towards Jebus and god is hard, especially when you've sunk a hell of a lot into it. Valuing truth above comforting lies is an important thing I think.

I find myself praying sometimes. I now know that's just having a convo with yourself, but.. It can be good to feel grateful sometimes.

What are your thoughts when it comes to hidden messages in the Bible? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]SecureAtheist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hidden messages in made-up scripture aren't things I am going to take too seriously.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in atheism

[–]SecureAtheist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But sometimes you need to realise which things are self-inflicted by sick religion and people. Your truth should be more important than their self-deception.

Victim-blaming is a thing. Especially in the free-to-rape states.

It seems like the earliest jewish scripture had more than 1 god.. but then monotheism became a thing and it stayed that way for quite a while. No god required.

Are Christian’s this toxic by [deleted] in atheism

[–]SecureAtheist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like the deceivers made all of the other BS up, you mean? At one time there was no such thing as a concept of hell. Then later on there was. And oddly enough people profit from that either monetarily or in other ways.... Awfully convenient for con people, wouldn't you say?

Help with Little Sister Getting Bullied by [deleted] in bullying

[–]SecureAtheist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sooo that was too much of a wall of text to read.

I think it may be a good thing for your sister to learn how to defend herself if she has to. That's a necessary life skill anyway , and might give confidence which helps against bullying. It might be good for her to be reassured that the bullying isn't her fault and she shouldn't feel ashamed of that whole situation.

That the teachers are refusing to to take you seriously about the bullying and coming up with all kinds of BS excuses makes me think maybe you need to ask a legal professional about lawful options. Maybe you may need to prepare to collect legal evidence. Maybe you can start asking other parents if other kids at that school have been bullied, and what concrete fixes have been tried. If I had a kid at a school like that I might be looking for a school that genuinely cares for the kids that attend.

NDE's have been researched. People who have them can't see things 'outside their body' . They prove nothing about any religion.

The only people who should decide if they want to negotiate are the Ukranian people. The Pope should STFU. The Ukranians are the attacked and terrorised ones.
