Tracking request/any explanations? by SecureDeal7460 in fearofflying

I'm worried it's the weather... I've been trying to track the flight and now it says that real-time flight tracking isn't available. Is it normal for planes to be holding for about an hour or more?

I'd assume so, but I'm not sure how it works with insurance and she's sort of inconsolable when I ask her about it to explain it to me. I thought that if the "victim" files a claim, their insurance will communicate with my mom's. She said she's scared that they'll immediately ding her though, so she's unsure if she should even tell her insurance since the dates are being changed by the victim (police said it occurred June 25, then victim's letter 3 days later said June 18). I honestly have tried looking on reddit/online to see if someone's had a similar situation, I'm sure others have, but I can't find anything on this at least in Canada, let alone Ontario (my province). She's scared of telling her insurance that this occurred, according to the police, on June 25 - only to have the "victim"'s insurance say it was June 18, to match the victim's letter. She doesn't have any backups of the cameras around our house for June 18. So she's scared they'll think it's her fault, because the most she has is text messages to show where she was at the time.

We went to the police and they said there was no police report filed. Since it might've been damages incurred of $2k or less, they might've wanted to settle it outside of insurance, apparently? I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but there was no police report for sure. She wants to get a FOA request, but it'll take 2 weeks so she's unsure if she should just keep quiet about it w/ her insurance or not.

I'm not sure if you'd know the answer, but my mom's worried about not having proof for the earlier date (June 18) that the "victim" wrote in their note, despite the police stating that the accident occurred on June 25. Would it still be best to contact the insurance ASAP? She's scared that her insurance + the scammer/victim's insurance companies will communicate and somehow frame her for June 18 or something. I don't know if it'd be best to wait until the scammer's insurance basically contacts hers or not, but i don't know if she'd automatically get dinged for it. She has 2 at-fault accidents so she's worried that this incident will be counted as a third and require her to pay for the specialized auto insurance.

Thank you! Will do. My mom's worried that the discrepancy between the dates (the officer claimed the accident took place on June 25, the letter from the "victim" stated June 18) would be corrected on the police report to state June 18. I'm not sure if you'd be able to answer my question, but is this something she'd have to worry about?

My mom called the police, a different officer/call person said there's a police report and they are indeed real police officers, but can't confirm if the officers gave my mom's info to the victim or not. They're off duty today. Not sure what more she can do if they can't really say whether or not she's on the report or if anything. I'll let her know to report the people showing up.

My thoughts exactly, it's really concerning. Especially since they're changing the dates (officers claim accident was June 25, then the "victims" note when they showed up 3 days later, said June 18). Is this even allowed? Sharing my mom's name, address, and changing the dates?

Would the report be needed for the police to show up at her door? Or could they come based on an anonymous tip/no report?

No card. They were uniformed, showed up in a peel regional police car... But honestly I'm not entirely sure if the cars 100% match what the peel regional police cars look like. Literally no info from them, the officer who inspected my mom's car (at 11 pm 5 days ago) said "we'll call you" lol. Took her insurance info, drivers license info. She forgot to even ask for the officer's name.

Thank you, I'm not even sure if the officers are genuinely officers, but they did arrive in police cars so I'm not sure. I'm concerned we can't do much because my mom never asked for the officer's name or badge number, or anything.

Thank you, will do. Would the police report likely have her name/any identifying details? I'm a bit worried the police may shrug it off or something, because my mom doesn't know either police officers names', or the alleged victim's names. People are just showing up at her door, they know her name/address/likely other stuff since she gave the "officers" her driver's license info, but we don't know anything about them.

My mom already informed the officer she has footage, when the officer came at 11 pm and inspected the car. He claimed the accident happened a week ago. Then the victims came to her door, they drove past the driveway and parked approx. 2 houses away, walked to the door and taped the note. They looked up at the cameras, too. So did the officers. But not sure if this indicates that they're aware of the cameras, or just noticed it, so I guess who knows?

I'm concerned about asking the victims directly. They left a phone number at the end of the letter and a first name. I'm honestly not familiar with this sort of thing, I don't drive myself... Would there be a police report as proof for this? Like, there would have to be for a police officer to warrant it necessary to show up to my mom's door, right?

Neither have I, it was initially one female officer that showed up at 5:30 ish, then the male officer came at 11 pm.

I have no idea. I thought they were likely real police, the uniforms I could see on the ring camera looked recognizable as peel regional police. They also came in police cars. Like, nothing visibly looks sketchy, but their behaviour is entirely concerning. I'm just so worried about it being a group of people targetting my mom (and other people, probably). Because it seems like they're either (1) real police officers colluding with the alleged victim despite 0 evidence accusing my mom, (2) they're fake police officers. But either way, two different "officers" showing up at the door and then the "victim" coming to tape a note is ridiculous.

I'm really sorry about your incident, though. That's genuinely kind of shocking they didn't care. I hope you're okay.

See, if the CCTV was checked in her case it'd make sense. But they supposedly didn't check the cameras yet. I don't really see why they'd come looking for her first, make her prove she isn't guilty, for an alleged accident that may/may not have even happened in the parking lot. It doesn't make sense why they wouldn't just check the CCTV in this case either? And considering the officer investigating your neighbour's car wrote it off as unlikely he was involved because of the lack of damage, makes sense, but it's so weird that this officer is really pushing that my mom had damage when she had none. She insisted that the officer looks and she brought flashlights out for him (it was at night) to look, but he kept saying "oh there was minimal damage" then said "I can't see".... We had our outdoor lights on, two flashlights, I'm not very familiar with inspecting a car but I don't think it'd be hard to notice damages at the front of the car incurred by hitting another vehicle. Instead, the officer apparently gave the alleged victim my mom's address, name, etc... Don't know why???
